Tech Inspection Checklist - be prepared to avoid surprises at morning tech inspection

That is my only complaint about the bike, the lack of HP/top end. Racing at Road Atlanta a few months ago, I would lose 10-20 bike lengths to the BMW's, ZX-10's and built Gixxers.

I could get the drive on them coming out of T7, hard enough that i would be looking to make a pass on exit. But once straight up and down, i couldnt stay in their draft. By the time i came around T9, they would be in T10 (or something like that).

But then i would be looking to make a pass on the brakes going into T12.

...but then i would lose another 5-7 lengths on the front straight.

...then they would be holding me up in the chicane and the esses.

It was an aggravating yoyo effect every lap.

It is by far the best Liter bike i have ever ridden as far as handling and braking. It is easy to ride and the power delivery is so smooth. The mechanical grip is insane, it can find grip where others can't. But once straight up and down, it can't compete with the I4's in stock form. It is very narrow and aerodynamic, so once on equal HP terms, it can be faster than the I4's (hence the RSV4 being the fastest bike in WSBK). But in stock form, it just doesn't have the motor.

I use zip ties to keep mine on..:thumb: The Go Pro thing will always be an argument.. Everyone says those sticky mounts work but in both of these cases they did not... If you can wire them please... Better to have it fall off and hang by something then have it tumble down a straight and take someone out in a bad way... Ok off my soapbox..:blah:

 

I'll agree the safety wiring is a good thing, I have mine on a tether and recommend to others they do the same.

Not trying to start a debate, just an observation. I've never had an issue with the mounts IF they are installed properly. I'm willing to bet in 99% of the cases where they come off it was either improper prep/cleaning of the surface, or a case where they stuck the mount on and didn't let it cure 24 hours before using (the adhesive used on these gets stronger by a lot after curing).

 

or bad (rattle can) paint jobs.
Ive seen the paint rip off and the sticky mount goes with it.

 

Yeah, forgot about that, if they didn't prep the surface properly that can happen to.

I have never wired my go pro. never seen one fall off. but with all said, and easy to do, will do mine this weekend.

 

I've always wired or zip tied mine, why not? Personally, I don't like throwing away $200+

No they are not...

 

I use the little safety thing on my Contour and fasten the other end to zip ties on the fairing, easy to do and it has survived a crash that way.

 

We plan on bringing our supermotos to Grattan in a couple weeks. We are both running Keihin FCR carbs. To pass tech, do we need catch cans installed for the carb vent hoses?

 

Please tell me those FCRs are on DRZs. That would be killer fun to watch.

Had a DRZ400S with one of those carbs back in the day and always thought it would be fun around the track. Night and day difference between that and the stocker.
