Welp my weekend report is coming sooner then I hoped :crutch: After my first session Sunday I was called to bump up to the Advanced class and took them up on the offer right after lunch. (There were some really fast guys in the group) I noticed my front was pushing pretty early for the pace I was doing (Power Pures running 30R/32F cold) I made it though the day feeling happy and good but really really worn out. Sunday first session was ok then I went out and shadowed a coached from the second session. After taking the lead I managed a lap and 1/2 before I lost the front completely in T5. Bike is decent won't take too much to fix I am also okay. I did learn a lot from the second session and have no regrets last two laps were a 1:20-1:21 before I stuffed it. Really not happy with the Pures they are not predictable and I honestly felt better when I ran the Pilot Power 2CT's several years ago. Maybe its time for me to break down and just call it a track bike and get the Power Ones or something else (I'm open to suggestions) Another great event thank you STT for hosting it! -Nathan
Sucks to hear you tumbled. Time to move up to DOTs and make this a really expensive sport for ya! My street tires lasted so much longer.
This was my first track day with STT and I gotta say I was very pleased with you guys. Great experience and services.
Thanks. No I wasn't using warmers it actually happened towards the end of the session. Do you think it would be beneficial? I really think its a tire pressure issue but I'm not 100% sure about that.
I wasn't riding today but took some trackside pics. Just contact me on facebook if you want any full size pics. Only took them for advanced group. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3941030761772.2154120.1160010103&type=1 Free. :woot:
32 cold front mighta been as much as three pounds too high, making them a little greasy?I'm NOT an authority and NOT a fast rider but every recommendation on the Pures I've seen is for 30 cold in front. I had no problems with my front at 30 but I could feel the rear getting just the slightest bit squeamish when experimenting with +1 or 2 pounds of pressure.
When I talked to the tire guy he told me to run 30/30 in the pures on the track. I had a decent weekend until I bit it in T10 right after lunch in the N group. Felt like the bike was sliding out from underneath me as I was exiting, thought I could save it but ended up in a wobble into the hey bails. Luckily I escaped with only some minor bruising, a broken little finger (That little guy? Don't worry about that little guy!) and some hurt pride. Really enjoyed the time I did get to spend on the track. The coaches were awesome! I received a lot of helpful tips and even had a couple coaches stop by my pits after getting off the track and tell me I looked like I was doing alright and offering to answer any questions. So, thank you everyone for a good weekend despite some setbacks! I really appreciate it!
Great weekend at the track!! Thanks to Nick & the gang Traffic was pretty heavy most of the day today but the last two sessions folks started packing up early so we finally got some uninterrupted laps, the last session was fun though If you want a predictable tire that wears well go with a rosso corsa, its the new version of the corsa III, i ran 18's on that no problem, but if you want a real tire run the Pirelli Diablo superbike slicks wear like iron & grip is amazing
