If it happened towards the end of the session I doubt it was a cold tire issue. Like others have said, you might want to look at a different tire choice, along with tire warmers, especially in the A class. Warmers let you run quickly right out of pit out, and they keep the tires warm throughout the day, less heat cycles.
Sounding like the Pures have a grip threshold and are mostly going to be suitable for slow guys like me! On another note, thank you to the coaches, staff and riders in Novice for a safe and fun weekend. There were more incidents than anyone would care to see (one is more than anyone cares to see!) but it was a well run event as always!
Thank you all for coming out. I noticed traffic was a tick heavy so I am going to reduce the number that can attend in the I and A groups. It's been the same for years and we run less than the norm for orgs that attend that venue under sold out conditions. We had some really experienced dast riders present as well. As for tires I suggest stepping up to a cup model. Get your suspension dialed in to or you'll eat those cups like a fat kid on a donut. I recommend tire warmers as well. running warmers keeps the tire cycles low and increases longevity of the tire.
I thought one rider got a ride to the hospital. Any report on how he's doing or are those questions taboo in these circles? Matt
In general it is polite and respectable to not speculate on what you do not know for sure. It's also proper to not post up about others conditions if they have not given you permission to do so. Not everyone likes their life posted on the internet. As a rule we do not discuss peoples conditions at the track. It's not our place and to many times, the facts get skewed. Ever play the game telephone? I was behind a bike that crashed by it self one time. But the end of the day, the story was that it was 4 bikes that collided and tumbled, blah blah blah. If people want to share about their experience from their weekend and update their fellow riders, feel free. We hope you all are doing well and get back out there soon!
i didn't notice any traffic in I on sunday! was like 35 riders? i did putnam in spring with mcra and was over 6o on track! that was a traffic jam
Just wow! what a great experience I had this weekend. The STT coaches were amazing and they really seemed like they wanted each rider to improve their skills. After lunch the novice coaches went over body position and Bomber (i forgot his real name  ) was great while on the track reminding me to push my head down and get my chest/shoulders moved over. I also learned a little bit about tire wear from some of the other staff like the difference in front-lip and rear-lip on the treads. Everyone was very approachable and happy to help when they could. I cannot wait to get back out there, but I have to get my zipper fixed on the suit and then open a new credit-line haha :rawk:

How many track days can a rider expect out of a set of Cup tires? On a 600 running back of the pack advanced?
Depends on compound. 1.5 days at Putnam ate through a soft Cup (I was running 16's). Putnam is hard on tires. Try the C rear for track days.
I got 1 1/2 days at Road America and 1 day at Putnam out of a 'c' compound Cup rear. Front's pretty shagged too. I ride a 2011 zx10r with a buck80 at the rear. 2:33.09 at RA and low 14's at Putman. Get the Cups they are the bomb
Cool - sounds like I may have to go with the C compound rear on my bike then. I got 11 sessions down at Barber with the B compound and it's bald on one side. I should have flipped it... so now I'll try to flip it next time. Otherwise, I love the tires!
man a new diablo superbike slick sc2 i can get 2-3 days out of at putnam, ACC or somewhere else i can get almost 5-6 days & thats at :08's at acc & 15-16's at putnam
Thank you everyone for the great experience Draik had this weekend. Thanks to Greg K of working with him in the "lighter-traffic" novice group Sunday that got his confidence back! He has been struggling with it since crashing several times at Road Atlanta. Not just Greg though, K3, Nick and everyone else with words of encouragement for my boy! "TheDraik77" Thanks again, hope to see you all soon!
Thanks very much for all of your kind words and 200 bottles of water this weekend. I was struggling to get him enough open track to really work on what we needed. I'm glad he feels better out there. We were rolling (as fast as a 125 and an SV can go haha) down the front straight. I went to the brakes behind 2 riders because I didn't want Draik to run up on me and them last minute. I look back to see how far back in the mess of bikes he was. He's still on the gas, pops out to the right, blows right by me on the two bikes (well before turn in, a very well executed pass within the rules) like they weren't there and down on the apex into turn one! FLYING! I cheered some very encouraging words in my helmet that a youngster shouldn't hear. I have to tell you. I've met a number of young USGRPU racers in the last 12 months. Some great kids! Kudo's to all those parents and the dedication of their families. I feel such pride when I get to offer them some assistance and help them grow as riders. I was pleased to see how receptive Draik was. How well he told me what he perceived as his challenges and how well he communicated what he felt the bike was doing and where. It made it very easy for me to help him understand what he was feeling and why it wasn't a need for concern. We would discuss our focus for the upcoming session and he would ask very specific and intelligent questions. Which quickly told me that he has a very good knowledge of whats going on out there. A little time putting all that information to use and connecting the mental dots and he'll be very easy to coach to big improvements and adjustments. Tell me the track you guys are going to and date and if I can make it out to ride with you guys again, I'm there Barber this fall anyone? :thumb:
Yea it was cool to see him out there very controlled and very predictable. I wish I started at a younger age thats for sure.
