You may be in good hands then, I've just seen people screw some stuff up with them, the most common is too tight. If you hear any whining from that area that changes with rpm make sure you get it checked. And it will likely need periodic adjustment, they aren't a set and forget item. As they loosen up you will hear some knocking starting, let it get too loose and the engine jumps time and it's not pretty when pistons/valves meet.

This.... Also with the APE make sure you safety wire it... They come pre drilled... I put one on the R-1 and it worked great...

I've been wondering whether the manual tensioner was needed on a stock motor or not for these bikes (2011+ 600/750)? Curious as to your reasons?

The spring loaded tensioners can fail causing detonation..... It has happened... Never to me but why take the chance...

Thanks. I've seen it for built engines on older bikes but wasn't sure if people were doing it on the current ones with no engine work.

It can happen but the newer tensioners seem to be a little better. I'm running mildly built engine on my 13 750 and still use the OEM tensioner. I've got a manual on hand but haven't seen the need to change it.

The ironic thing is that MotoAmerica does not allow manual CCT's in the SuperStock 600 class. I can't imagine why.

Mine makes noise in the cold upon startup. The bike has almost 17k miles on it. The plan is to do a SS build next winter, maybe. I figured since I had everything apart it as worth going ahead and installing it.

Next winter! If it need attention now. Just swap it. It's not nearly as hard as replacing the pistons and valves when you have a problem.

I finally got the plastics on the bike. It goes to T-Man soon for the suspension work.

    Sam,

I'm contacting popshadow about that tomorrow! Any ideas on what I should have done? Obviously number plates but what else?

After that the bike goes to GA in two weeks to get the shocks done before the event in April!

well popshadow has had my number plate idea for my ninja cafe bike for 2 weeks now and ive gotten nothing back even an email, i know tea is busy so expect a month or so production time from ordered til its at your door, the number plates and maybe some oversized red GSX RR stickers like the gp suzuki bikes have to put on the side would be cool .. simple and subtle

I ordered all the stickers. I'm not sure if I'll go with the OEM looking GSXR emblem or this black one.

    This is what I ordered:

This is my list of to do before April:

    - OEM windshield
    - clips for Airvents
    - Apex Adjustable Clip ons (standard)
    - axle sliders
    - frame sliders
    - Bazzaz QS4
    - bolt for L side fairing/spacer
    - suspension (Ohlins TTX 25 Front/TTX GP Rear)
    - steering Damper (Ohlins)

My bank account is going to hate me this month.

I would like to also get a AIM SmartyCam HD for video/data but I'll be putting that off for last and probably will just do it as next winters project. I want to integrate everything and that means more money. :/
