It's the Barber "Stay and Play"!!!
(spots are starting to sell - if you don't have yours, get it now!)

Since this event follows the MotoAmerica weekend there are a couple things that are different:

    - our gate time is 5pm Sunday. If you want to get in before 5pm Sunday, you will have to buy a MA ticket.

    - if you are here for the races, Sunday at 5pm you will have to stop by registration and sign the waiver for our event, and get an STT wristband (sorry about that - it's an insurance thing more than anything). If you want power/camping for Sunday night/Monday, you can also pay for that there as well.

    - if you are attending the races on the weekend, YOU CAN BRING YOUR TRAILER AND PARKING IS FREE! They will let you park your trailer in the general spectator parking. You can't camp there... just park. If you do want to camp at MotoAmerica it's pretty cheap - $50 I think. Either way, you'll have your stuff there for Sunday evening load in.

Gates open approx 5:00pm Sunday night and stay open til 9:00pm, if you make it in by 9:00pm you can then come 24/7, if you don't make it by 9:00pm gates re-open Monday at 7:00am-5:00pm. Barber is in the Central Time Zone.

There is now NO gate fee for Sportbike Track Time events at Barber

We ride R*** or shine, please come prepared for Southern rain showers.

You must walk to the Porsche building and get your wristband before you can get into the paddock. If you need camping or electric, you can pay for that when you get your wristband.

If you arrive early please park where the gate guard directs you to park. No drinking of beer or alcohol allowed in parking area's and no changing bike oil in parking area's.

Please note that Sportbike Track Time is the ONLY organization that Barber allows to "stage" in the museum parking lot (at least once construction is done)... we want to keep it that way!

No glass bottles are allowed in the Barber paddock - bring plastic cups!

Camping is available and you pay the track for that.

Electric is available in the lower pits against the fence and in the upper pits in both sides and you have to pay the track for that.

Huey from Marietta Motorsports will be there for all suspension and tech needs - he will also be providing tire service for this event! I am not sure if he will have tires for sale - but he will have a machine there for tire service.

Sign-up opens 7am and closes at 10:30am for the day. Please be on time.

Tech opens 7am and closes 10:30am.

Please note some NEW tech rules regarding GoPro (or similar) cameras:

    - all Gopros mounted on a motorcycle must have a tether from the camera case to a point on the motorcycle.

    - helmet mounted Gopros are not allowed at all on track

    - in our novice group, Gopros are not allowed on track in the morning sessions - in the afternoon sessions they are fine as long as the above rules are followed.

Mandatory riders meeting 8:20am, Intermediate riders are first on track at 9am.

Sorry to say, pets are NOT allowed at Barber.

Showers are available on the second and third levels.

Race gas and street gas is available on second level, credit cards only.

Please keep your area clean and do not leave any race gas cans or tires when you leave.

We must be out of the paddock by 7:00pm Monday night.

Any questions, please post up here.

Will there be room for us in the paddock with those guys there where we would normally park? Also curious if I should leave my things overnight like usual with many different people in the paddock.

That would be awesome, he could give lessons on corner speed on the 1960 Honda and probably school many. This will be my first track day with STT. I plan on attending races on Sunday and staying at the hotel down the street Sunday night. I have my wife and daughter so a hotel room is the least I can do if they are going to hang out all day at the track with me. I am signed up for intermediate. My last track day was three years ago at Barber with another organization and I ran mid pack intermediate with them so I am hoping I will be fine. Can we still get power on Monday for tire warms and a fan and stuff? I will just have an easy up, table, bike stands, a tool box with the basics, cooler and a few chairs, trying to keep it simple. Even though I am not currently racing my r6 is basically race prepped per WERA standards so I am hoping tech won't be an issue. Anything I may be missing?

Sounds like you'll be just fine. Yes, power will be available. Take it easy in the morning and if you need any help getting back on line just ask any of the coaches.

Great pic, will do. I remember aim for the tower over the hill out of (4?), race line is over the curb out by the museum (8?) the "drift" type feeling coming out of 10 hard on the gas is friggen awesome! And I almost put myself in the grass every other lap over the hill on 14 I think...still haven't figured out why but it's a solid oh sh*t factor!

Late to reply because you are out there now.

Yes- Aim for Tower as you see it cresting 4
Yes- Race line includes riding up on the curbing going thru the Museum (7-8)
Apex late the turn before going over the tunnel and aim a little further down, so you aren't pointing at the grass when you go over the tunnel. Late Apexs are always safer than early ones.

    Have a blast!

Well, the liquid sunshine waited until about 5 PM before making an appearance. When it arrived, it was mild at first and then came on with a vengeance. The winds were really strong too.

    Awesome track day!!!

Great day, first time back on the track in 4 years, ran intermediate and kept getting faster all day:D:D:D. Format was great. Enjoyed having a coach run the first lap each session in the morning and showing the lines around the track. Great track side support from Marietta Motorsports, amazing what 2-3psi in tire does for front end chatter...they could have easily talked me into a new set of tires...I believe the response went something like, "man, tires ain't your problem, suspension feels good, trust the tires, trust the bike add a couple psi and get back with me". That's service and taking care of a rider! Can't wait for my hero pics from 129! Can't wait to do it again!

Any word on the intermediate rider who had the nasty high side in the chicane coming on to the back straight? I hope all is good, it looked nasty.

The heat was a little much! I managed to do four sessions and I was done, even with the heat it was a good day to be a Barber.

Welcome to the Dirty South! 95 in the shade! I had to call it an early day because the heat kicked my little butt!
