There is a big difference between a 250 two cycle or a 4 cycle! The Ninja 250R makes about 38hp and weights around 375lbs. A Aprillia RS250 makes around 70hp and weights 310lbs. A capable ride will have a lot of fun in I with the two stroke and sure as hell will not be the traffic jam. BUT if your 200+lbs (like me) the two stroke will not be a good choice for you! Them bikes are designed for riders around 110lbs or less! Yet the four stoke is just missing some ponies no matter what but it will not have too much trouble with a man size rider :bounce:
That's what i was i thinking. I remember when the new Gen 250 came out, for shits and giggles a buddy did a SS engine build on one, tuned it for MR12 and after all of that it still only make like 32hp or something.
that's what I found online. very possible its wrong, I guess I should have checked the source more carefully. but it was late!
it depends on what you think is fun. i've ridden just about every size bike at the track, and have more fun by far on little bikes. just depends on what you're into. if you're open to learning what they can teach you, it could be a worthwhile experience.
This photo was taken in the advanced group... and he wasn't holding up anyone. Once again, as it's been said 1000 times - it's the rider, not the bike. Ride what you want. t
:amen: Ive seen 125's, 250's, Hayabusas, Speed/Street Triples, Triumph Sprint ST's, Kawi Concours, Ducati Diavel, Streetfighter and Monster, and now a Goldwing on the track. And that is just what is off the top of my head. At the end of the day, the rider is ALWAYS the biggest variable.
I am surprised to hear this, as 250's will be the easiest bike to pass. In my [limited] experience on a 650 [and a 250], literbikes tend to be more annoying. That said, it may be worth looking at a 650 twin instead of a 250 if you're concerned about being to slow in the straights to be on the track in Intermediate. More proof that 250's can hold their own with the appropriate rider: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz03sQeX02c
^ I agree 100% The liter bikes in N & I are the most annoying in my experience. fast on the straights but SLOW into and through corners (entry, mid, exit). I hated that!! 250s, SVs etc. were easier to pass when I was coming up throught ranks.
