We refer to it as "the lightweight curse" ... 250's get passed on the straights by 1000, or 600's then the 250 gets held up in the corners by the bikes that just passed them...

Draik has learned to just pull into the hot pit and look for clear track to go back out.

flylikechris Wait, how tall are you?

I come from a 250 background (avatar pic), I have a world of respect for people who come up through 250s and 125s. I still endurance race 250s, and chuckle in my helmet when I'm stuck in 600/1000 traffic in corners. They are usually the ones who complain about us to.

literbikes are annoying on large tracks, they don't bother me one bit on a smaller track. the intermediate group at STT includes a lot of riders that fell through the cracks. i've seen 8-10 bike traffic jams due to these types of riders. an appropriate rider can hold their own on any bike. there's just the lack of that kind of rider.

  6. Is there a series like this kickin' around the michigan area? sounds great! like the spec miata of motorcycles...

We love the 250 class in WERA! Big grids and always close racing.

I definitely can see that. Interestingly enough, though, I found it to be the other way around. I prefer the larger tracks as literbikes have more track to get ahead in the inevitable straights, thereby giving you more separation before you catch up again.

I find it difficult to generalize I-group [no matter what organization] because it's the largest variety of skill levels and is really a discussion entitled to it's own thread [and I think I've seen one in the past few months here too!]

But to go back on topic, to my understanding, the 250 scene is not huge here, but the MCRA has it's own 250 class which is relatively substantial. But Grattan and Mid-O are not super far either for WERA, but are those the closest tracks that WERA runs here?

I recently trailered back my Ninja 250R to bring it back to life [post crash] and perhaps turn it into a Cafe daily rider bike, but I haven't decided yet.

As r6boater mentioned, I think WERA is your best bet. If you ever make it down to Autobahn I'll go out and play with you though! :thumb:
