Blackhawk pics

i'm working on them right now. will have them up online by the end of the day.

had a great time for my first time shooting at blackhawk. spent most of the day saturday figuring out my new lens. shot half the day in wrong modes, wrong shutter speeds, totally in a funk. all these damn switches and buttons - hows a punk like me supposed to figure all that out?!! surprised they turned out ok, considering what a donkey i was. was a learning process through the day - got better as it went on. all-in...i now love my new lens. aside from all the prickers and thorn cuts/scrapes i got from jogging through woods for pictures, it was a great weekend.

had a great time riding blackhawk for the first time, also. had a nice 'no-front-brakes-into-the-busstop' excursion into the grass. no harm, no foul. but again, great time. put some faces to names. and got to know some people much better that i only kinda knew.

good to see travis again. been a long time. glad to see him back and looking good on the track (though he still sucks at motorcycle racing video games!)

 

this became one of my favorite places to wind up for passes into t6. (thanks trevor for showing me the late entry into the next t5 on our first couple sighting laps together).

 

real strange for a track photographer to see shadows....but such is the essence of blackhawk. heading into the woods.

 

don't get me wrong....shadows are kickass for photos. make for cool reflections in bike paint and big light differences show off the heat trails on pipes.

 

BUT, shadows are from trees....and trees and racing.....make me understand the hesitation on racing there. was a fun track to ride, though!

btw...i think it was this guy that made one of the best saves i've ever seen. thanks to some race experience on his part....he made up for somebody elses donkey move. all ended well.... cool.
