I'm looking to upgrade my brake pads from oem on my '11 gsxr 600. But with so many options i was just wondering what the best bang for my buck would be.

Galifer all the way. Had the EBCs and they kept glazing over. Switched and cut my braking distance in half.

That used to be the problem with the older generic ebc HH pads, but not any more especially with the new GPFAX race/track only pads.

Many many endurance teams use the new generation ebc pads.
Imagine fast, top race teams using pads for 4-6 hr straight.

The GPFAX pads are about $140 for a complete set for the front.

The ebc's also wear like iron. Theyll last a good season for an average rider.

OP, what else have you done to your brakes? Brake lines and better fluid at least, right?

I'll be swapping fluid, lines, and pads all at once. I've heard mixed reviews about the EBCs. A few people have told me you can't go wrong with the hhs.

All the ebc pads have the 'HH' designation. You have to get the 'right' HH pads.

These are the ones that would glaze over, mainly because people were using them for the track and that's not what they're for...http://ebcbrakes.com/product/double-h-superbike-pads/

These are for the average street rider/occassional trackday guy....http://ebcbrakes.com/product/extreme-pro-brake-pads/

And these are for somebody who wants to have the best brakes possible..... http://ebcbrakes.com/product/gpfa-brake-pads/

When you get new pads, be sure to clean/deglaze your rotors to get any old material off the rotors. I use one of these and some simple green. http://www.harborfreight.com/4-in-400-grit-abrasive-ball-61183.html

Use q-tips to clean out the goo that will collect in the drilled holes in the rotors.

I'd recommend RBF 600 or 660 brake fluid. The best out there in a middle of the road price range.

    sbk1198 What's an apex?

I used the EBC EPFA pads last season and they worked great. Didn't last quite as long as I would've hoped for but the braking feel was better, more progressive rather than having that initial bite feel where you feel like you nose dive as soon as you touch the brakes.

I just got a set of GPFA pads now. I'll be breaking them in at RA in a few weeks.

Fyi, the GPFA's or the newest GPFAX's only need about a half lap scrub time. I break them in on the warm up lap of a race and theyre good to go.

Vesrah RJL for great stopping power.
SRJLXX if you want awesome stopping power.
SRJLSS for alien like stopping power.

They go up in price as the stopping power increases. The RJL you can throw on a go, you will notice a definite increase in stopping power. The XX and SS will take some time to get used to, they will defiantly put you on your ass over the bars if your not careful, and do require a gentile touch.

I was one of those guy that had issues with the EBC Extreme Pro's glazing over or losing power after the initial use. I've been using the Vesrah's (SRJLXX) since (and added benefit is that the Vesrah's have a wear indicator and the EBC's don't (didn't); the Vesrah's seemed to provide more consistent grip thru the entire life of the pad. Also tried a set of Galfer's in between and like the Vesrah's better. I'd like to try the GPFAX's...

The SBS seminar STT had a Road America was quite informative. I'll be doing a little more research the next time I buy pads. But, I'm definitely a fan of the Vesrah SRJLXX. Long lasting and awesome power.
