Awesome. Glad I didn't pull the trigger when I found them.

Thought about running a new model gsxr caliper with a r1 MC, but the cost factor hit me upside my head.

i dont see why that wouldnt work, masters seem kinda universal, the line routing may be different because the mounting point is different so if u have spiegler lines that swivel at the banjo ur good togo, if not then u may not have such luck unless the mounting point for the lines comes off your master in same direction as your current mc

Will it physically work yes. I think the master is maybe a different ratio but I'm also 99% sure it's the same part as an R6. I used a R6 master on gsxr calipers (so the ratio's were not matched up) and it worked until the calipers got hot so the ratio thing is kinda moot unless you're talking a brembo 19x18 vs a 19x20.

I know the master rebuild kit from Yamaha is the same part number, so the bore diameter is the same on both, but the leverage ratio is probably different since the brake levers are different...... so I'm still wondering if the R1 master would work efficiently and not cause any issues with braking, using R6 calipers

But to clarify...an r6 master wont fit a 1000cc bar correct?
It would have to be a r1 mc because of the bar diameter.

But any year r1 mc will work on any year above 06- r6 caliper?

Now that I've learned that only certain year models will work. ..i feel like I'm starting over on the process. Ugghhhh

I don't think he's talking bar diameter (both should be 7/8") I think he's talking about the caliper mounting to the fork leg. The newer R1s have a 3 pot caliper and the R6 has a 2 pot, so the center to center mounting distance is a different length.

It just dawned on me that it's not the bar diameter that different between the r6 to the r1 but the fork diameter

It's not the fork diameter (although they are different). If you measure the the 3 pot calipers mounting bolt center to mounting bolt center it's like 108mm or something. If you measure a 2 pot caliper it's 100mm. The 3 pot calipers cannot mount to a 2 pot caliper fork leg unless you buy this crazy adapater.

To make this simple only look for 06+ R6 calipers and master cylinders and buy some caliper spacers from TWF racing.

The master will not matter at all. Buy which ever one you can get cheaper and use it. You will not feel or notice any difference. You might get an R1 master cheaper though since people think that only the R6 one will work.

Thank you for the reply some guy #2. I had bought a very nice 2014 R1 master and never could get an answer on whether or not it would work correctly, so I also bought a R6 master from an 08 and eventually installed that. So, I now have that master (2014 R1) and the Suzuki OEM master that I took of of the bike...... which I believe is the recalled master, but not sure.

I put a Brembo RCS on my 2011 GSXR750. The OEM master had the recall work done before I bought the bike (summer 2014). You interested in it? Before I put the Brembo on, I just had braided lines and it stopped quite well (on the street anyway; put the Brembo on before I went to the track).

I have the brembo rcs19 on my 06 gsxr 750, and 07 gsxr 600 with steel lines and ebc hh pads. Sooner or later I want to upgrade to vesrah pads on the 600 which will be my track bike.

I have the EBC EPFA pads on mine and it's all the braking I can use. Have used Vesrah in the past on my SV and liked them a lot as well.

My setup will be.... 08 R6 master and calipers squeezing a set of the Vesrah SRJL-XX pads.
