the guy that was escorting me around was riding his bike sitting on it backwards to keep a eye on me, and i still couldn't keep up. :D

maybe i should have went over to the dirt track, i would have felt more at home there. :D

i do love learning new things, thx guys for the ride.

well, i'll tell you this. the guy leading you gets around that place pretty damn good. not many can keep up to him at a trackday.

you rode great from the little that i saw. matter of fact, i'll ask dennis (the guy leading you around), but i thought you appeared to be the fastest street ride i've seen there. usually the street ride pace is pretty damn slow. like real slow.....like waiting for christmas slow.

I was watching the street ride too and that was the fastest street ride I had ever seen.

I also heard there was a crash on the straight away? How did that happen? The lady on the PA was talking about someone looking behind them or something.

i did slip a few singles ( $ ) , in is pocket before we took to the track, to click it up a few gears. :)

okay, that was a Versys adventure style bike i was riding, how much i'm i giving up riding this compared to handling in a sport bike ?

    if it's more then 3%, :D
i'm going to have to go shopping, i'm hooked!, and you guys just set the hook in a little deeper. :D

whoa there cowboy. i think on that day, at that session, you would have rode the exact same pace on the versys as an r6. a bikes capability doesn't always correlate to the pace that it's ridden. that versys could probably be ridden 20 seconds faster per lap (capability of bike). when you start riding over the versys capability...then consider that it's holding you up.

thats good to hear, and makes sense.

this is my first road bike after not being able to ride for the last 25 yrs.
mostly only ridden dirt & trial bikes.

just didn't know how the versys compared to riding a true sport bike on a track, since that was my first time on a track.

i'll always find a way to have fun no matter what i'm riding, but if there's more fun to be had on a sport bike, i don't want to be missing out.....

lap times don't mean anything to me, i just go for the pure fun factor in any hobbies i do.

thx for your input, i'll save my $ then for track time.

    Kirk-

By the third session on Sunday the rain had stopped and the wind picked up. The track was actually drying in the third session, but after lunch was once again stellar.

Special thanks to all who swept and squeegeed puddles during lunchtime!

For the record, the street ride on Saturday was at a very controlled pace, & the rumored singles must have ended up in Jig's pocket based on his comments.

Also, just so nobody interprets it incorrectly, the crash on the straight didn't happen during the street ride. More importantly, she's mostly ok. A sticky throttle was the culprit.

christi's crash was in the braking zone going into t1. there was also mark arrington's crash coming on to the front straight (tank slapper at the apex-fought until hitting the grass)....he's fine...just bumps and bruises.

Saturday afternoon was a great day and really wished we would have stuck around to ride on Sunday. The way the radar was showing the day to be, I just didn't want to pay to sit in the rain for half the day. Of course it ended up being beautiful out!

Had a blast hanging out after the day ended on Saturday, talked to and met a bunch of new people. Why can't we have weekends at Grattan every weekend?!? :D

Sunday turned out to be a good day. It stopped raining around 10:30 and the skies cleared out. The track dried out for the afternoon sessions.

There wasn't many people that did the track day because of the weather. We ran two groups with 30 minute sessions. SWEEEEET!!!! We had a good time Sunday :)

We had some high speed crashes on the straightaway sections Saturday. Saturday in the Advanced session was a bummer due to the weather and the red flags for several sessions. Very little quality track time, but what can you do. The main thing is that everyone was ok from the crashes, no serious injuries. That's all that matters in the end. Heal up guys and gals, glad your ok.

    Thanks

A quick shout-out to Jesse, my Novice coach on Saturday. You were especially smooth in the rain and it really made it comfortable to pick up the pace a bit. The rain did indeed help me be smoother during the dry sessions in the afternoon.

I appreciate all the time you spent with me and our group providing us feedback.

    Re: Thanks

Thanks Richard. :p As you know, rain riding forces you to be smooth, even more so when you're running a Power Race rear! You sure were looking comfortable out there, especially at the end of the day...
