hey Ritch its Keith (Super Bee). You decided to go into intermediate, cool. After my expeience with intermediiate with TT (and Chris"s- he went down in 11) we decided to drop back down. and we got another buddy comin for his first trackday so we wanted to be able to ride with him some. Just to let you know the most I ever learned on a trackday was the day Chris"s motor blew and I rode with you and Steve. We will be in garage 13 this time ( 1 was already resevred so we are movin over) so come by and see us or i will find you if you park in our normal spot. see you there.
Is any one know the area good. I need a hotel close to the track so I can sleep as long as possible. That is not a dump but not expensive, 70-95 maybe. Nice 13 hr drive to get there for me. Also how far is the track from Charlotte. I have family there and was thinking of meeting them at some point. If it don't inter fear with my time on the track of course. It loks as if I come by way of 81 to 77 it only adds 20 min to trip. using mapquest. But is route 95 flow much better. Sometimes mapquest don't know squat until your on a one lane rd with 200 lights. Any help would be great. Thanks,
There is one in the town past the track, pretty close (Executive Inn). It isn't much but, it works. Rates are cheap and they allow pets. The town rolls up the carpet about 8-9 pm though! http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&s...=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=3&sqi=2&ved=0CD0Q_AUoAg
Wife and I are staying at http://www.camdencolonyinn.com/ in camden about 20 mins from the track. Its supposed to be better than Executive Inn and they serve breakfast. It was 68 a night I belive.
I-81 is a pretty hilly drive. If pulling a trailer, I would opt for I-95. I've driven both routes to NYC over the years and there really isn't much difference, though I-95 is more populated along the way meaning more places to stop for fuel and food. The 1 advantage 81 has is avoiding greater DC. Hit DC at the wrong time on the 95 route and you will lose a lot of time to traffic. Either way, have a safe trip and see you at the track!
I have stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Camden near I-20 and it was pretty much on par with other HIE properties. There is also a Comfort Inn right at I-20. I didn't find much in Camden, but these are both just a few minutes south of town. The reviews I read on the Executive Inn in Kershaw weren't very good, so I chose to drive a little further. It looks like the Camden Colony Inn is closer to the track and restaurants.
Honestly I think anything is better than EI, but I think we paid $50.00 per night and its only about 5 miles down the road. It's enough to shower and lay your head down, that's about it.
I almost got one at the EI until I read some reviews of the place. After that I decided to stay down the road in a nicer place since the wife was going to be with me. I normally stay at HIE but its over 100 for a night and work isn't paying for this trip...lol
I prefer the soft ground by Turn 1 myself.... However this weekend I get the Kitchen again in Eds Taj Mahal...... Brett you guys better stick around for Dinner Saturday Night.... When the tire service closes the Quesadilla's start flying....
my trailer/hauler sleeps real good parked near turn one.and the showers are good and hot at cmp.yall come by the fire and visit me fri or sat night..
Marc, if we need a fire pit I have one but it wont fit on my trailer with all the other shit I have on there. So come get it if we need it.
I will look up the Candem Inn, Thanks for the heads up on DC traffic. The trailer I am towing is only 6x12 tow rig is a diesel pickup so Hills don't matter much. Thanks
The weather is looking good for both Sat and Sun. Looks like there will be rain Wed/Thurs, but the paddock should be dry by Sat.
I was told they are not allowed...I have one too Brett but wont have room for it... Or time to tend it... Hell it wont be needed.... Weather is looking great...
