...and thus you are not intermediate :pound:

Just kidding it is interesting listening to the different approaches just as it is interesting watching the short time I have when the AMA guys pass (having to brake and transistion on the RC both would be WAY beyond me, though the concept sounds more interesting for the 750)

One thing about it if he did the description at the start of the day in "I" it would give him a platform to correct from that is not horrid. It also depends on what he is riding as a small bike has other options just as in places the RC has fewer (though in 5 it has more for me)

Thanks Chris that is exactly what I was looking for. That's basically how I got to Intermediate last year. I think if that coach could see my body position and stuff compared to before the bump he would recognize the effort I am putting towards this. I just think I will respond better to some one on one time if possible and Thank You again. I look forward to riding with you:thumb:

Ok, can you SHOW ME at the track? Chris if you'd just slow down in A just long enought for me to follow you for a few laps?

By the way you will have no trouble spotting me since my bike is white with HotBodies fairings painted to look stock.

Just for the record one more time:bounce: I am not necessarily thinking I need the bump. But in order to get the bump I need to know what areas I need to work harder at and what parts I am doing right. Granted it is a totally different track as far as challenge in concerned and there really was NOBODY there my first event this year was at Nola and the only people that I honestly felt were faster or smoother than me we people that were actually A riders riding in Intermediate or CR's. Of course every rider thinks they are fast, live in reality and know there are plenty of riders that can shame me. Just looking for some honest feedback from a CR on the things I need to work on. A guy has to have goals you know:thumb:

I can't guarantee anything, but ill try. This is my first time riding since having 4 surgeries on my left arm 8 weeks ago. Ill be coaching in Int and whether I ride in Adv or not depends on how my arm does.

But if nothing else, since Adv is after Int, when Int is done I can come into hot pit and grab you, then give you a tow for a few laps taking it easy to show you those lines. Then I can pit-in.

Either way, I can go out in a session or two in I if need be no problem...sorry about your surgery but anything to slow you down long enough to get to follow you. I'd like a chance to discuss specific turns, follow you follow me then pit and talk about what I'm missing...my best is a 1:39 and can run consistently in the low 1:40's (literbike) but I was pushing my luck when I did it....I'm consistently blowing the entrance to the museum turn.

Ill be on the RSV4 or R6 in STG livery.

No worries. I know where you Re coming from. Trust me, nobody is going to hold you back. But at the same time, the Adv group isn't going anywhere. Just ride your ride, have fun and everything else will take care of itself.

Here's a thread where some of us where comparing our "track day lists"

It's over overkill for a newbie but you might get some ideas.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought anything under 1:40 at a track day is moving right along. :rawk:

We will get it worked out. :thumb:

One of the biggest keys is the high speed chicane in the back (after the museum). It connects the 2 longest straightaways...so there is a lot of time to be gained or lost right there.

For the Museum turn, look for the patch on the left hand side (assuming it is still there). That is my turn in point. That first right hander is faster than it seems.

There are 2 tricks to the Museum corner. First, trail braking. On a hot lap, I'm on the brakes through the entire section. I trail brake through the first right hander, then soften brake pressure as I jump the curbing, then get back on the brakes harder. Getting back on the brakes after the curbing is the 2nd trick, and it is even more important for you on a Liter bike.

The common mistake is to carry too much speed into/through that right hander at be bottom of the hill. Carrying too much speed into it will cause you to run wider at the bottom...which will delay you getting back on the gas. On a Liter bike, the goal is to lengthen the straightaways. So after the curbing, go back to the brakes and slow down a lil bit more before that right hander at the bottom. That will let you get the bike turned, pointed in the right direction and stood up sooner....which will let you get on the gas sooner.

Basically you are giving up 2-3mph in the very short duration Museum corner, so you can get on the gas a lot sooner and gain 10mph on that straightaway.

It's 'respectable'. But it isn't 'fast'. More importantly, I'm not comfortable or smooth and will have to relax to improve. Getting old doesn't help either :)

Concur...the hard part for me is knowing just how much corner speed I can take, and knowing just how much and how early you can get on the throttle thru the second part without spinning up the rear or running off..seen some pretty big highsides there...

Totally get what you are saying about Museum. Making the first turn, in itself, bleeds off speed and there are plenty of times I'm not carrying enough at the entry or coasting rather than trail braking (which I need to improve upon), and catch myself cussing under my helmet. Don't know your gearing, but are you dropping all your gears before the entry? I'm usually dropping one gear (+1 rear stock gearing on my Gixxer means the entire track can be ridden in first 3 gears) before the top right, then one more before the curbing. But once I get to the curbing, my braking is done because I'm trying to set up to make that bottom right...Sorry to mess up the thread Trevor, but some of this stuff is priceless info...

Jeez has anybody noticed the site is messed up tonight?

We only bump if there is room in the other groups. If there isn't room, you have to stay where you signed up.
