And fun and only about 1/2 farther for you. Also a ticket is more than a track day  Just for food for thought though I do appreciate that money is limited so you do what you can not what you want.

Good to meet you and hope your day continued after I left, I saw your brother was there and you seemed to have everything in hand so I left early to take care of family stuff and get the dogs before it rained on them.

Surgery done. Doc said it took about twice as long as expected because there were lots of fragments he had to try and puzzle piece back together. There were a couple he had to remove because he just could not get them to fit together. He gave me some exercises to start his physical therapy until we see him again in 2 weeks.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and wishes!

Hey, I figured out how to get the message out myself. Lol

I had a great time. Didn't ride the last section. I was two tired, and didn't have the concentration to do good. I had to stop on my way home to take a nap, was about to fall asleep driving. I learned a lot and had a blast. Just wish I could do it more now. It's like crack. I'll just have to save up. Planing to go to the dragon soon that should be fun.

Now you see why a lot of folks recommended against riding down. A lot more work than a 400 mile street ride :thumb:

Just remember, at the Dragon there is basically ZERO run-off and lots of cars/trucks/motorcycles/whatever, that will be over the double yellow coming around blind corners. At the Dragon, a mistake usually ends in one of two ways.....

    1. You go INTO the side of the mountain!
    2. You go OVER the side of the mountain!

Neither one usually has a happy ending!

I live about an hour from the Dragon, and have ridden it a grand total of ONCE.

I would rather trailer my bike 10hrs to be able to ride 1 day on a track, any track, before i would ride Deals Gap.

The two don't even compare, neither in fun nor in safety.

I have to admit, from my driveway to Tabcat Bridge (where you leave the lake and start up the Dragon) is only 18 miles. I ride through there quite often, but it is at a more relaxed pace....pretty similar to an everyday ride on the street. I enjoy hanging out at the store at the bottom and watching people come and go. It's a nice ride through there, even at the 30MPH posted speed limit, but you do have to be on alert at all times for the idiots. Obviously, I would much rather be at a track day, but I'm also old enough and wise enough to know not to push it up there....no matter how tempting it is.....I've seen too many riders leave the hill in a helicopter on their way to U.T. medical center. Some survive, some don't!

That is the thing, what could be an awesome road has been ruined by idiots. I much prefer the Cherohala Skyway. Or closer to home i have hwy's 321 and 421. Contrary to popular belief, the mountains don't begin and end at Deals Gap. There are tons of less crowded roads that are just as enjoyable, with fewer asshats.

Like you, i don't ride hard on the street. I have well over 100k street miles behind me, and have never gotten a speeding ticket. I get that shit out of my system on the track. When im on the street, i just enjoy being on a bike.

Yep the Skyway is a much better ride for me than the Dragon. A lot less idiots to deal with. I actually like riding across skyway to 68 and take that south thru the national forest. Then follow it to Blue Ridge GA where I like to run down and back up Hwy 60 to Suches and come back. Low low traffic and a lot less Leo's
