Steve, Karen and I wouldn't mind checking out the garages. Do you have one reserved? We will be at the track this afternoon.
Well that's a fun and challenging track. I'll have video later once I get home. Good to see some of the southern folks again.
I don't want you head to swell too much Josh, but Steve was very complimentary of your riding this weekend. It was a smart move to pit with him and soak up the knowledge of someone who wants to give it. Steve, you can pit next to me anytime so maybe some of what you know will rub off on me too!
I had an awesome time at NCM this weekend..... I love that track. It makes me sad that that we don't have another weekend there this year.
Thanks Keith! I had fun out on track with Steve! Maybe one day I'll be decent. Steve said he got down to a 2:01-2:02 on his BMW Sunday. I wonder if I used 6th from turn 3-5 and 12-17 instead of running to the top of 5th and holding it which is 131mph-ish I could gain anymore time. Also maybe try digging out of turn 10 using second instead of the slow wait of 3rd. That might get me to a 2:01-2:02 but that's also getting greedy and a lot of shifting. I need those badass BMW blip shifting and quick shifting! My clutch hand get tired out there! Check out 129photos Saturday advanced folder on page 9! Looks like some dudes leg ended up in the back of another guys bike! Theirs a series of about 8 pictures.
That hurt his foot is jammed in between the tire. I don't know when that happed, but I'm gonna have to go check that out. I saw a few places where you left a little on the table, but not much at all. I'd have to pic out your video to tell you where, but I'll bet Steve is likely to show up and tell you much better than I. Really, I don't have much of anything left to impart to you; your progression is pretty impressive.
That "dude" is Josh. The guy who was changing tires for this event. I was directly behind them when this happened. Josh had no where to go and other guy just cut right across. Every time I saw him on the track I waited long and hard to pass, cause no one knew where we was going to be or what he was going to do. I went down and talked to Josh quite a few time. Despite being in a lot of pain, he continued to mount and flip tires. Getting taken out sucks.
Keith, I like to think of it as the trickle down effect. Fast guys like Palella, Smith, Grey etc help guys like me then I can help newbies like Josh. I wanted to pit with Josh for a couple of reasons. I rode Suzuki's since 2007, I'm using the same tires so I've got pressure advice. Also I wanted to see his riding. I was impressed. I may have just meet the only 25 yr male that actually listens and takes advice lol:jester:. I don't have much to say really. I think he's being smart in his approach to riding bikes and well on his way to being very fast.
I like to tell Novice riders, and even the I guys: "We are all on the same path, just at different points on it"... What little I've learned has come from some very helpful people before me (I'll be forever grateful for Jimmy Cavender showing me how to lock my heel), and I try to pay it back helping other riders - why I like coaching. But hey, while your helping those young guys, don't forget us old guys who are still trying to learn new tricks too! Wanna know what I learned from you this weekend in the brief laps I saw you in? What I learned is to remind myself to counter-steer more instead of trying to throw the bike around in those high speed sweepers! See, I WAS paying attention!
Thank you!! and thanks again. I was asking around who was behind me when the guy went straight. I wanted to make sure i didn't spook him. i backed off passing him and he went straight. surely not my best lap of the weekend, but great to see. ty!
I think he must have must have seen a squirrel by the looks of that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSUXXzN26zg
Here's a vid. It's pretty uneventful but I do catch Keith, Charles and Chris in it. https://youtu.be/8Ovz5NqCc1Q
