Takes lots of time and $$$$... I hope Geoff gets on that puppy at Barber and Hauls the Mail like he did on his GSX-R...

Barber is a great track for the EBR bikes, last year on the 1125rr Geoff lead the race at one point. Managed 6th place after running off track. With the extra HP he will run up front for sure. Geoff is got to be a little disappointed, he was ready to ride the 1190 this weekend, but it is a good thing that Erik has got the orders to build the bikes. Got to make hay while the sun shines.

I would love to have a 1190rs, this bike is going to be a beast. I listened to an interview with Geoff May where he stated that the 1190rr is the fastest bike he has ever ridden. That says a whole lot! I have a feeling it will take about 40k to get one. That is a little to rich for my blood, so I won't be giving up the XB12 any time soon. Are you going to be at Barber?

No doubt Erik has created a monster, looking forward to the 1190 being on the track. Will be at Barber both days.

Talked with Geoff May this weekend at Barber, he said the 1190rr will be a go for mid Ohio. Geoff did a great job getting the 1125rr into 7th, it goes out in style. EBR had the 1190rs there in the pits and let me say that no picture can do justice to this awesome beauty. Many thought it improbable if not impossible for Erik to come back so quick with a real honest to goodness American Sportbike. This is an American success story, and it is about damn time we have our own home grown superbike. Congratulations Erik!! Now go kick some butt!!

Here is the latest article from Motorcyclist Magazine, this mag has never been partial to any Buell product, mater of fact I would say they have been anti Buell and have always had a negative byas about the Buell products. Well now they are whistling a new tune!.

Saw the 1190 in person at Barber. That is one sharp bike.

I looked at my daughter and looked at the bike and said "you know, Fathers Day is tomorrow. . ." Which was returned with a prompt "fat chance"

Kids these days. No respect for their elders.

I had to talk her into it but I think she's glad she went. She really enjoyed meeting the female racers. Got an autograph and a pic with Melissa and Elena

 Ah, gotcha, I just assumed firewire, and didn't actually follow your link. That interface looks great, btw. And without the need for firewire, the budget is kept even lower.

Race 2 EBR had better results, Geoff made it into 8th place, ran a 1.27.25 best lap time, just 1.71 from Youngs best lap time. Tires went and he droped back to 10th. Great results for a small team with a lot of potential. The KTM has thousands of dollars thrown at it for set up and development. Glad to see more mfg's getting involved, and yeah. I love the sound of a twin.

I think Geoff needs a little more time to work on set up, and to figure out where to place the 20lbs of balast that has to be added to the 1190rs to meet weight requirements. Top 5 is not far off. Way to go Geoff and EBR.

KTM is a multi million dollar company, and they have been racing the RC8 in Europe with good success, they have had over 3 years of developement under there belt. The Buell is a totally new bike, new chasis, new engine, new front end and wheels, new brake system, etc..., Geoff has not been riding the race version of the 1190rs, he has been helping develope the street version of the bike, street and race are 2 different animals. EBR has less than 10 employees, and a small budget. Just look at how the two teams arrived at the track, KTM in a quarter million dollar custom semi, and EBR in a cube van with 300,000 miles on it and a trailer. Yes Chris road a great race, but as far as money and developement time KTM has a much larger budget and more time than EBR. Yes, expectation are high for both bikes, but people must be realistic, it takes time and a lot of money, what Erik Buell and company have accomplished is truly amazing.

Regardless of the financial side, both teams were very impressive to come out the first time and be competitive with the Suzuki's and Yamaha's who have been at this for a long time. Both Chris and Geoff had awesome rides and it is fantastic to see more mfg's investing in racing including Larry and the Beemer. The sad side of the Honda Supercycle Weekend is the only Honda's we saw on track were the S2000 pace cars which aren't mfg'd any longer. Sad to see Honda leave or not be there. Even Kawasaki had minor representation with JD who rode an absolutely fantastic race - let's talk shoestring budgets here as well.
All in all, it was a great weekend at M-O and some of the closest AMA racing that fans have seen......ever. Seeing 6 bikes dice for the win in DSB was way cool! Also, nice to see Tommy Acquino get on the box. He's really working hard this year.

I agree, both teams did a great job, and the more mfg's that get involved the better. When I heard Larry had jumped from Ducati to BMW, I felt confident that he could get that bike sorted out, and get it performing like it should, he has done a great job so far. Now if Honda, Ducati, and MV Agusta would get back into the superbike game it would be awesome. How about Triumph winning in supersport, been wondering why they have not been in the mix also. VIR is a real pisser, just when things really start to look up, they pull out ?????

Think the twins will do well at Laguna, should be a great race!!

Yep, I almost forgot about the Triumph win. Although, anything that Dustin rides is going to be competitive. He carries so much speed through the turns. I expect to hear much more from him in the future.
That said, anyone notice his starts? While everyone holds the throttle steady, he's the only pro rider I see sitting there reving the bike as he launches it.
Back to the thread - was Eric at Mid-Ohio? I thought he would be around, but didn't see him anywhere.
