You do it when you get there. As you pull up to register, Sam will be there. Tell him you want a garage, pay him cash.
weather Getting close to my 50 deg minimum acceptable temp for a track day......fingers crossed. Also assuming there are still spaces for Sunday....am sure there are lots of people waiting to see the weather on Friday before pulling the trigger or not... 8) Hope to see you soon. later
Think positively... If the weathers a little chilly and wet, Think of it as a Opportunity to work on Technique and lines...
Sam handles the garages. He is the usually the guy at the gate collecting money, getting releases signed & giving wrist bands. Ask him when you sign the release about getting a garage. Don't wait till registration because STT does not have anything to do with them. We will tell you to go back to the gate and talk to Sam.
You're right; I misspoke, I meant when you pull up, in your car to get your wrist bracelet, tell Sam you need a garage. Thanks for the clarification, Brian!
Oh Sunday is looking better. Maybe I will just show up and watch for Saturday. I need to get the tires done and figure out some gloves.
It's getting better everyday...Monday the forecast said 41 and rain/snow. Yesterday it was 49, 80% chance of rain...today it's up to 53 and ONLY 70% chance, LOL! Sunday 53, I'll take that! Who's staying at the Candlestone? Cya all there!
I might drop by for a beer at C'stone, but the TZ has depleted my trackday slush fund. Looks like I'm going to be getting very familiar with the Grattan campground this year! Richard
Sure... Rain in almost every session, a few it didn't rain, but the track was soaked nonetheless. Only a handful of us here today, so traffic was non-existant. Good slow reintroduction to the race-track for the year. Nice and slow! Tomorrow is supposed to be drier, but cooler. should be a good day! Richard
Saturday Rain Sunday Cold It was the best chance for 1 on 1 instruction if you wanted it, as the coaches may have outnumbered the customers.... Unfortunately, you really couldn't go fast enough to learn much. Someone oiled up the track on Sunday AM. The person was not in a group that required safety wire, but it proved the point that it's still a good idea no matter what. My trans didn't like to cold and decided to call it quits. All in all, it was nice to knock the cobb webs off and get some seat time.
No offense to anyone...But there shouldnt be a free pass on Safety wiring oil drain, filter and fill plugs!
Well, it certainly turned out to be an interesting weekend - including a few firsts for me - some good, some bad! Saturday morning I missed the first session, which is the first session I've ever missed at a trackday! Packing for two bikes, even with a pretty thorough checklist, is pretty daunting. I had to steal two fuses out of my truck to get the Ape to start. I had pulled the fuses from the bike before taking out the battery this winter and forgot to reinstall them - doh! Saturday night I planned to camp at the track for the first time. Since I was shivering and the winds were getting stronger not weaker I opted for the nice and warm Candlestone Inn. Not until a hot shower and a hot bath did I warm up again. Final first for Saturday? I only got in 50 miles the whole day . I had to keep coming in because my hands were freezing and going numb. Sunday morning, I gingerly rode the first session on a still wet track at 35 degrees. In the second session, the wind had dried the track and traction was improving. I actually got my knee down in both turns 7 and 8. Where was Jig when you need him? I wanted a photo of me with the knee on the deck and snow falling with a thermometer showing 35 degrees in the background. I didn't realize you could get tires to stick that well in the cold. After the oil spill delay, it started to warm to 37-38 degrees. With temps like these, I figured it was time to try out the new TZ (another first). First impression? Holy crap that thing is awesome. I was riding three year old Dunlop slicks and the bike was moving all around and I almost lost it in several turns. The high winds didn't help because I was really geeting blown around. I didn't really know if the tires were shagged, but I suspected it was time to change them. So, when I came in and checked tire pressure I was surprised to find the front at 12psi and the rear at 18. First time I've ever forgotten to check tire pressure. Last two sessions of the day were awesome with a dry track, some sun creeping out, the TZ sorted and starting to see what it can do (or at least what I can do on it). The biggest problem was the wind and the tendency for the front to get really light accelerating out of turns, but otherwise I had a blast. Come on warm weather!!! Richard
Man, I'm glad today's weather didn't hit you guys yesterday! Here is the scene in my driveway: Rediculous! -Tom
