I have a garage for the weekend (fri - sun). Anyone want to split it with me? I have it for the school and both wera days. Let me know Steve
Dammit man! I am seriously trying not to do that, but...... Ride is :2003 R6 Rider is : 46 yrs. Something for me in the WERA race package?
You can run 8 races total. how many would you want to run? If only 1 race, I would suggest Senior Superbike MW (middle weight). It's a 40 and up 600 class so the grids are smaller then the normal 600cc races(C superstock and C superbike). We are a bit more behaved in that class damn kids. It's a lot of fun, cool people too. Don't worry about the 03 r6, in 03/04 that bike was running 20's and 21's at Grattan (maybe faster). Plenty of people to help out with any questions, just ask. If you have some specific questions bike prep etc. email me wera412 at gmail.
i may have to give the senior class a whirl, but if people are doing 20s and 21s out there, i'm gonna get lapped in the sprint... s3aturnr
Up front Expert in the Senior race will probably be high 22 low 23's. Only about 4 guys will be running 20's 21's I think.
i'd have my work cut out for me in the 25-26 range. i was able to do a personal best of 27.6 ccw back in the may wera round. you guys are FAST. i'm still a provisional novice, tho, so i'll get some more practice time before i have to chase you in a race... s3aturnr
Rob I gave up racing in the senior class, not enough riders. You'll be lucky to get 3 maybe 4 riders in Novice. Personally I wanted to race against other riders not just turn laps. Nice easy race to start with if that's what someone is looking for. See ya this weekend
Dude if you have any thoughts of going racing just do it. Nothing wrong with your r6 and your not getting any younger. You won't be totally out of place even running 1:35's with most of the novice 600cc running between 1:30's to 1:25's. There will likely be 5 or 6 novices running sub 1:25's. If you want an easy race enter one of the novice senior races. I never hit the track till I was 39 didn't start racing till 44 and I'm 46 now.
Don't worry about times. Go out and have FUN and race. So many guys/gals get caught up in lap times before racing. 1) You'll drop time instantly in a race environment and 2) It's a heckofa lot more fun racing with a guy(s) for position, than just a number on the stop watch.
I ran 2:00's at Grattan when I started racing. Being lapped was the absolute last thing I was worried about. I was just looking for that next carrot to chase. My advice - you'll be much better off looking in front of you (going faster, chasing someone, improving, etc.) than worrying what's behind you (am I getting passed, lapped, what lap times *should* I be running, etc.). None of that matters and many new racers worry about that to a fault.
By the way - for any new racers with any questions throughout the weekend, we'll be in garage 8. Feel free to come up and ask away.
