That's why I haven't raced in it either. We need to all start a thread, getting everyone to commit to race Senior Novice one of these rounds, it would be fun. I'm in if we can get at least eight of us racing out there.
i am 46 and i would like to give the sportbikes a go in racing trim. i have raced MX, SX, and supermoto. but, i see the laptimes and know i cant be competitive, with the "novice" times, let alone the experts. having the chance to podium is a motivator but, if you have no chance, it can be a big de-motivator as well. i look at the cost v.s return on investment too much, and see that we wont get as much track time as a track day, it costs as much or more. i bought my prov novice license, i just need to take the class and sign up to race. just unsure if i want to jump into that end of the pool just yet. See previous posts. Many people who haven't yet gotten into racing believe you need to be "winning" or be "competitive" in the first race to have fun. I would respectfully say that's quite far from the truth, once you get into it. I would say 2 or 3 of my 5 best/most favorite/fun races weren't races that were won. One wasn't even a finish in the top 5, but I raced with 5-8 guys the whole time and they dragged me into lap times I never thought I'd be able to do. The cost/ROI is subjective and varies per person. It typically does cost more to go racing, but if done smartly, it's not a huge amount more. You do get more overall tracktime at trackdays, so each presents pro's and con's that compliment each other nicely. I think you would find that you don't have to give up trackdays to go racing. Both are valuable tools and work together with each other. Just my two cents, as your post is one I've seen many share.
this is very true, i do more trackdays than i race but thats because i'm not willing to travel all that far to race & i get tired of staying at one track allll the time. Racing is fun, trackdays are fun its just a matter of what you make of them
you're 100% right. i just go out and try my best for now. i get a little better every time. right again. my race starts SUCK. i definitely need help in that area. i'm dead last at turn 1 and have to claw my way back to where i started. the good news is that i rarely get passed after turn 1. s3aturnr
Mylaps has 11 people Wed and 8 Thrs on the grid for mid o. Only way to get more on the grid is to sign up. Not wait for people to sign up.

I used to practice starts at the church across the street. After about 10 or so launches, I'd leave, not wanting to push my luck. Nowadays, I'll go to a nearby school parking lots and practice them. It's definitely helpful to work on them in a repeatable, non-race type situation.
True but that's a combined expert, novice race. Wera results show that there was never more than 3 novices is any novice senior race at Mid-O. I do think that the senior races have the potential to be a lot of fun. Just need to get more riders.
Are there any restrictions on where spectators can camp for the WERA races this weekend? I'm doing the track day on Friday and really don't want to have to move once I'm set up.
Hahaha Come on with it buddy. Should just be me and one other person this weekend! You're welcome to join if you want.
JimmyJames, Grattan doesn't care if you sleep on the picnic table or under the fuel tanks, as long as they have your money. Only restriction is, they lock the bathrooms at 11:00pm. See you there.
