What is the track day school at Grattan this May about? 30 min back to back sessions? I am just getting back in the groove with trackdays and new to the area. are they worth doing?
2 Groups Intermediate and Advance only. 30 min rotation all day. I believe they are offering the PRO School, which is 1 on 1 all day with a coach. At the end, if the instructor deems you safe, you get a certificate that allows you to get your race licence.
This sounds pretty cool actually. I run an intermediate but this will be my first time on MI tracks but I should be fine after a few laps. is this basically just an open track forum all day long?
two groups, Intermediate and Advanced, @ 30 minute sessions, plus the option of taking the PRO School for intensive instruction and race licensing, it desired.
guess i need to be signing up for this then. so if you dont do the instruction you just keep running the track all day with 30 min rotations.
yep. If you're looking to improve your riding, you really can't beat the PRO School. to get similar level of instruction, you'd have to pay hundreds, if not thousands of dollars more for KSS, CSS, Doug Polen's 1on1 or Yamaha Champion's school. For an additional $100, it can't be beat.
the PRO School is optional. If you want to just ride, you can do that too. I'm just sayin, it's a really good deal if you want to learn at a faster pace and really ramp up your skills.
Im tracking now and thanks and if it all falls at the same $ rate then might as well learn something to!
Maybe PM Adam Hartzel (adam.hartzel I think) on here. I taught him at the Pro School last year, he should have some good feedback on the value of the extra money spent. If he talks any smack about me, let me know so I can punt him off the track
During the LED day are there more control riders on the track for feedback? For the Pro School, can you request you track coach or are you assigned one? I run Intermediate group, and I would love to have the addition instruction for the day, but not looking for someone to sign off on allowing me to race.
eh....not sure it's always 1:1 student to teacher.....thought it sometimes got up to 3 or 4:1 but much more individualized. when i taught it, we only focused on what they wanted to work on, rather than the normal structured stt novice program. we weren't done until the rider felt we had addressed his personal couple areas of interest. for some it was just more intense or detailed instruction on body position, and other stuff that is addressed in the novice program, but most others it was 'how do i go faster' and following them some laps and identifying the next areas for them to work on and helping them individually.
