Real trustworthy guy, he is a GM at a dealer, and passed along this info.

I wonder what they will do when I unload my track bike at the dealer? I wonder if they will just swap me the M/C instead?

It certainly might lend some explanation to the long-standing impression that some Suzuki GSXR M/C units were not that good, and did not work well.

Mine is a year before the issued recall years. Best you could do is to call your local dealer, and ask what their plan is. Just note, not all dealers have this information yet, and they hate when you know more than them :jester:

I wonder if Brembo's are acceptable forms of replacement. :)

Out of curiosity, I called my servicing dealer.

They knew about it. Won’t have instructions until the 28th and can’t order parts until 11/4. Interestingly, he said, because they are a military town, they’ve seen several of these, corrosion caused by bikes sitting for long times without use, or lack of maintenance (fluid flush). Said their experience is not a immediate failure, but a loss over time. He said they've had some with ZERO front brake come in....

Zero? hope those bikes were towed in, or had extraordinary rear brakes.

This isn't going to solve the GSXR MC issue (fade). I swapped masters for a R6 and still got fade after 15 mins. I'm sure this helps but I'm thinking it's more of a caliper issue.

It can be a few things combined.

    Get good brake lines
Use good fluid with a hi wet boiling point & change it with regularity
    Use good brake pads

I run a large brembo with steel lines and Veshra RJL pads with Motul 600 or 660 and have no problems with stock calipers.

^I'm trying the 09 1000 tokico monblocks with a brembo for next season. Supposedly better calipers than my stockers and all my hardware fits them. Trying R6 calipers if I keep getting fade though.

And I ran brand new Motul 600 and brand new EBC pads and still got fade. I have the same set up on my SV (gsr 600 master, calipers, fluid, and pads) and would get fade but it took almost the full GTL race to set in.

zx6's don't have this problem, the nissin's are phenomenal (stock masters suck ass though). however that 09 set up with the brembo will be light years in difference ;)

The fade issure I had with (04) GSXR brakes was a combination of the M/C and calipers. I mixed 3 sets of calipers and 2 M/C's to get a combo that worked ok. Cleaning the caliper pistons with brake fluid helped as well, the seals were pulling the pistons back to far causing extra lever travel before the pads contacted the rotors again. My 08 R6 fixed all of it.

I run an 04 GSXR 600 as my back up track bike.
Put new seals in calipers and a Brembo mc.
Made a world of difference. Like night and day.
Only issue was getting used to the new brakes and avoiding stoppies.

I just got my replacement installed from the dealer on my 2012 GSXR1000 and noticed that if you apply the brakes hard there is a noticeable stop on the lever. As if there is some sort of a blocking device to limit the distance you can pull the lever in. The dealership noticed it too. Is anyone else having this issue? With the original lever I could squeeze it hard enough to touch the throttle grip.
