Pretty sure there is no tent camping at Barber even though I noticed an STT staff members tent under the tower stairwell once. At the worst you could always sleep in a enclosed or your truck, should be nice (cool-ish)weather in March. N & I groups are allowed to run Engine Ice, Water Wetter, etc. Just for the sake of it go ahead & put straight water or Water Wetter in. Even though the rules say you can run Engine Ice it can/will still screw up the track. See ya there on Sat morning, we will be in an old Coachman RV pulling a silver enclosed with the bikes listed in my sig.

Since camping came up, does any one remember if they had 30 Amp or 50 Amp at the power box (campers). And how much is it a day? When will the gates open on Friday so I can get there early and set up? And is there power on the lower paddock like there is on the upper? I was so damn excited last year I forgot to check....Joseph

    Re: Barber

I have heard they have 30 & 50 on the second level but no idea on the cost. I always pit in the lower paddock. In the lower paddock you rent a box and has 6 15 amp duplex outlets on it for $25 a day I believe. I always rent one and split the cost with people around me. I use 2 of the outlets and leaves 4 circuits free.

    Re: Barber

I would split it with you, it sounds like we will be in the trailer because the RV we were going to use might be sold. So we will only need about two outlets as well. We will be in a silver/gold Ford F150 and a 14' v-nose with KTM Super Dukes and a Triumph Speed Trip.

See you all there I can't wait!!

There are a few hotels in Leeds, Al. where the track is located but they are not "quality" motels. There is a hotel right out side the track and we stayed there last year. Needless to say it was a sleepless night due to all the people outside walking by yelling and drinking. My wife did not feel safe and I am a police officer and I was kind of un-easy about staying there. Plus, they jack their prices up when the track is open. Now I have stayed in Trussville, Al. when I go to Birmingham for training and it is a small town with a lot of shops/restaurants and hotels w/a mall. You can find a hotel for $50.00 (or less) a night and feel safe knowing your bike is not going to get jacked off your trailer. But, it is a few minutes down the road. Birmingham, Al. is just a few minutes away too, but you will pay more. Moody, Al. is right next to Leeds, Al. and I never was able to find anything that was worth my time when I was there. You can also check the internet sites and find some deals. And if you get some other people to reserve rooms you may even get it cheaper. Good luck! Joseph

Pasted this for you, gives you an idea what is available.

    My wife and I..

..usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Irondale. I am a Government employee and they give me a pretty good rate, but I don't think it is terribly expensive otherwise. We always get a good night sleep there and hit the free breakfast before driving to the track. It's about 10-15 minutes away.

EDIT: Just checked the rate... $94.00

A cigar lounge in Leeds Alabama  The Mexican place south of the Leeds exit has decent food, the bars are pretty rustic, and anything that has lounge in the name should be avoided. Enjoy our weather, be sure to see the museum (allocate at least 4 hours), and enjoy a fabulous track but it would be Jersey

Oh and if you can detour check out Little River Canyon near the Ft Payne exit on I59 (and when I59 gets bumpy get in the left lane and stay there)

    Hi,

I'm heading down to Barber this weekend for the first time and I'm wondering what sort of lap times someone that runs upper intermediate on other tracks should be able to run? I'm just looking for some kind of a goal/target for the weekend - not kill myself trying doing anything stupid. Thanks.

    Paul0812,

Closest cigar lounge/shop I know is on 280 and 119, the Humidor Room. About 15 minutes from the track, two traffic lights and no interstate. Small, seating for about 10. Not the best selection of smokes. If you have a unique personal smoke, better bring it with you. BYOB.

    thehumidorroom.com

Plenty of food, drink and lodging nearby the Humidor Room.

    Welcome, ya'll

    If it's dry....

First morning - mid to upper 50's wondering "what's over that next hill?"

    Lunch conversation - sub 1:40

First afternoon - lower to mid 50's telling yourself "there was track over that hill this morning!"

Later that afternoon - upper 40's to lower 50's making sure the track is still over every hill!

End of day, non time related performance
    1st beer - I was scared
    2nd beer - I wasn't "that" scared
    3rd beer - It's all there!
4th beer - I'm working on my reference points
5th beer - I got it down now
6th beer - If Mark would only get out of my way!
    7th beer - Sub 40 1st session
    8th beer - Sub 39
    9th beer - Sub 38
Last beer - NEW TRACK RECORD
    ........

First morning session, 2nd day - I HAD TOO MUCH BEER LAST NIGHT!!!!!

    Ride home - NEXT TIME!!!!!!

And it all goes round and round!!!
