Papa.... Kath's new founded ability to communicate on the same level with Walter explains not only why you, Mike and I haven't a clue as to what the Hell they're talking about, but why she's having trouble appreciating the 1098. Maybe Pete's puttin' somethin' in her coffee each morning......
i can't believe that i just read all of that. it must be the off-season... sometimes, i meet ducati owners who remind me of a old friend. this guy often expressed an interest in buying a motorcycle at some point. i would give him all sorts of reccomendations for a first bike, and he would say no, he wanted to buy a bmw and nothing else would suffice. mind you, he had never ridden a motorcycle before in his life- how the hell would he know what he wanted and if he would even enjoy himself on a bike??? predicably, he never ended up getting a bike. don't get me wrong, i like ducatis, but i like other bikes as well...
Most Ducati owners I know own other bikes also. Others alternate between Ducati and other brands over the years. In fact, I can only think of a few that haven't owned something else in the last few years. In my case I've had Suzuki-7, BSA-1, Honda-1. I liked all but the Honda and a 1974 Suzuki GT750.
Mike, i never knew you owned a waterbuffalo ! not quite the ride i picture you with, though as i recall they were pretty quick, just a little unusual in the handling dept. Pat
Pat! You're back on dry land...I thought you sailed off to an island with the family and weren't coming back! btw, can you save this thread...please!!!?? Kath :? :?:
hey Kath, yeah, we made it. must've been lucky..... save this thread ? it's waaay beyond saving, though i have to admit i like the new 1098. of course, with the exception of a particular Road King with handlebars up around my ears and fwd controls i've pretty much liked everything i've ridden lately.
Hello Pat, '74 water buffalo with Bassani chambers,re-jetted carbs, Koni shocks, Goodyear HP tires (see if anyone remembers those) and clubman bars. It was not only quick but was also a torgue monster. 3,500rpm wheelies on the throttle in second gear. I had it a year and had it running well and handling reasonably well. It also took me a year to get it running consistently. If I opened the throttle all the way it was about 50/50 whether it would go cleanly to red line or fall all over itself at 5,000 to 5,500. By the time I solved it, I was sick of dealing with it and was always wondering if the misfire would reappear when I opened it up. Kath, Why does this thread need saveing? It's all nonsense and the peak of internet wisdom
