Here's the lap times from that race http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1976199 Best expert lap was 1:20.421 Later Steve
Thats is fast. I need to drop 5 seconds to run with the novice group.... I might be in trouble. I was running 28s consistantly at Grattan, on stock gearing, suspension and street tires. Hopefully the Ohlins, gearing, and race tires will help. Either way I am sure I will be having fun
If you have any competitive bones in your body, you will run faster laps in a race. Cant explain it but my recent experiences will prove it .
I do, and I have been told the same. I have been told you drop anywhere from 2-4 sec when racing... I will find out soon enough.
Absolutely. I have never been a good "practice person". Even back when I played ball sports i sucked in practice. I need the competition to really push. I had been to Tally 3-4 times before my first race and immediately picked up 2 seconds in the first Sprint and picked up another second in the 2nd race. I wouldnt worry about being able to run a top 5 lap time going into your first race. Just like at track days, all you have to do is be smooth, run consistent lines and do your thing . If there are faster guys there, they will get around you. Good luck
Thanks! I am pretty excited, and I really dont care what place I finish in just as long as I am having fun doing it.
Nice vid Rob. I see why John calls that beemer a cheater bike! Wow, leaves you for dead on the longer sections. So much for riding with one of those things at Road America. Still pumped to get up there with the proper gearing and let the horses run a bit.
Nice riding Robbie....couldn't stand much lookin' at my ass...I knew I was riding sloppy but jeez whiz....yuk....form sucks, lines suck...other than that I had a great time!!!!
Agreed, Rob was flying! Your form looked pretty good when you went past me (repeatedly and often), but that might just be my jealousy talking.:thumb:
LOL...honestly part of that is riding pooped!! PJ...your game has elevated quite alot over the last 2 years...you are seriously riding extremely well bro...no bullshit..(cuz' we do that alot) see you at R.A.!!
PJ- Heres one where I follow you for a couple laps :rawk: action starts @ 1:30

I really enjoyed watching this video (especially since you followed me out and passed right off the bat; you guys don't believe in warm up lap, do you?), but mostly for seeing your speedo/tac/gear changes, and where at on the track. Question: Are you using stock gearing/spockets, or have you changed anything? Thanks!
thanks man, brother in law hooked me up with some tire warmers for the first time so felt pretty good right out of the pits. yeah stock gearing/exhaust/rearsets, have vesrha rjl pads spiegler brake lines, and front and rear suspension re sprung and racetech gold valve kit with fork tube extender/rear shock shimmed and michelin power one commercial's. anyone have any experience with going from commercial power ones to competition?...is there a noticeable difference in grip. also anyone else feel like the track had a little less grip than usual?
I felt like it got a little less traction as temperature increased. And yes, I was keeping my tire pressure adjusted.
Same here, just not sure if the Tire went as it got later on and therefore independent from temps , or the suspension didn't do the work as it should... Anyway that orange TC light was on a lot Sunday afternoon.
I wish I had Traction Control. I scared the poop out of me back in chicane. Little too leaned and hard on the gas at the same time.... Pretty good slide .... I went to the bathroom to clean my shorts after.
