no problem...if you were prepared to wait for spring to buy I would say wait for the new MacOS to come out, Leopard. The functionality it adds to the already well integrated Mac apps is amazing...I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out. If not, Tiger, the current OS, is amazing itself. Check out comparisons of the MacBook to its PC peers and decide for yourself... http://reviews.cnet.com/4323-6527_7-6509050.html?tag=txt kath
Mike, as previously mentioned, the new macs will run windows, without emulation. DynoJet's tuning link is windows only, afaik- not a problem now for a mac. I just ordered a macbook on monday- anxiously awaiting it's arrival to compliment my 20" imac at home... other advantages? Mac OS X is supremely stable. in the two years that I've run various iterations of X, I've had exactly one system crash. my computer is almost always on, too. I've also had exactly zero virus infections, ditto for spyware and malware as well. My Imac is currently 100% microsoft free, although my macbook, since it will be used for work, will have windows and MS office. However, I will be using pirated copies: Bill Gates is already the richest man in the world, he doesn't need one cent of my money. One caveat: if you install windows, do so on a separate harddrive partition and be aware that windows on a mac will still be susceptible to the same drawbacks and hazards as on a dell; Mac's vaunted security only works on the mac os! for that reason, I'll only use the net in Mac OS. Great tips Lance....good advice on websurfing in the MacOS only...as well as partitioning the hard drive. I've partitioned my additional external hard drives, separating memory intensive video files and final cut express from other media...great idea to put windows stuff and windows OS on a separate partition... kath p.s. sorry for the thread hijack papa...
