Im in but not that excited i have to run in advance since intermediate is full already. Oh well im sure i will learn a lot riding with more experienced riders.
Just hold your line and don't look back. And ask a Coach to show you the line. But it may change as we are all learning a new track
A very physically and technically demanding layout with several late apexing corners that require hitting your marks pretty accurately if you want to set up properly for the corner that follows. I liked it a great deal, but expect it will take some more time and some more experimentation before I find the most comfortable line there. After racing there the day before, STT (David) should certainly know the line well enough to place cones marking turn in points and apexes, which will help speed up everyone's learning curve and make it a safer event, as without them, I expect some riders will be a little lost and lines will be....at best, "creative" :?
Bob great explanation David and Mike will get as many cones out as possible ... hope NJMP has cones to place. STT at Barber did not set any cones out on the track, I was l little lost for the first day but was able to find points to use and had a good time riding that track. ( I definitely left lot of speed there)
Brand new, perfect pavement is sans any of the cracks, bumps, tar strips, yellow paint (as @ Pocono East), curbing, or any of the other reference points that are usually found @ most tracks, making cones far more important there than anywhere I've been.
Bobby's comments are spot on! I've done a couple sessions on thunderbolt this morning and all I can say is WOW!!! You are all in for a treat! The track is fast. No, it FAST! A surprising amount of elevation changes, especially considering that the local topography is as flat as florida. Finally, a great track, close to home! w00t!!!
The Lightning course is wide so I would expect Thunderbolt to be the same or wider, well wider than Pocono, so I suspect some people will 'get lost' a bit in the corners, especially in the novice group. Bob, I take it you have already ridden the track?
I will be coming from Richmond, Va if anyone wants to share a ride. I have a 6x12 enclosed with just my 125 inside for this trip. I will be heading up on Sunday afternoon.
Hey Bob Are you gonna leave that beautiful bike alone long enough to get 2 days in? I'm going and I think I'm gonna run my CBR this time.
Hello and possibly going on the 1st Wanted to say hey from East Brunswick, NJ. Just joined and just got a track bike. It is a 99 CBR 600F4 that was a guys back up race bike. I have only been on the track at Loudon for an all women's track day event. Totally enjoyed it and then bought the track bike. Used to race personal watercraft and missed the adrenaline rush. Got it back on the track. I am considering going on the 1st. What I am looking for is I guess some people to pit with and maybe take me under their wing for my track beginnings. Unfortunately, I am traveling alone and don't want to be like a lost puppy. If you are thinking maybe she is a young hottie and we can hook up, that is not the case (I could probably be a mother to alot of you), but if you want to do a good deed and help introduce me to track day ins and outs, it would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome and congrats on the new bike!! I'm Mike (coach), and I'll be pitting with Renard (like the Mayor of any racetrack, always kissing babies and shaking hands)... You're more than welcome to meet up with us at NJMP. It'll be my first time there, and Renards second. I'll be in a white Dodge Dakota, and Renard has a 30' motorhome. You can't miss him...
That sounds great! I'll take you up on it! Thanks so much. I'll be in a black Tahoe pulling a small blue trailer with greyhound decals on it. What time do you guys plan on arriving? Tracie
Does anyone know what time the gates close at the track. I will be coming from Richmond, VA and will not be getting there until like around 8pm.
When I was there Aug 12th and 13th, they infomed me that the front gate would be locked at 8 pm. My suggestion is to contact the track directly. http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/ For gryhndnut (and anyone else new to the track), if you don't meet up with someone you expect to, just ask those that are pitted next to you if you have a question. I am yet to meet some one who isn't friendly and helpful at a track day. Have fun.
