JB, Is the "E" tire the same as the PR4, or is it an older version of a Mich medium/soft rear tire???? I was thinking of going w/the "1 PRC front/2 PR4 rear" ongoing deal so as to get the longer-lasting rears. John C
The E is more like the PR5. The PR4 is more of the soft. I've found the 4 works great when HOT outside (like 85+). The E & D were last years rears
OK, "E" as in "A" thru "G", "A" being softest, like in this Michelin page, under the "Compounds Rear" tab. http://www.michelinmotorcycle.com/index.cfm?event=powerrace Thanks, JC
That page will probably confuse you more than anything. "E" is more of the harder of the 2 rears. The D is more of the sprint tire (good for 2 races?)
Pretty close.... The D is a softer (sprint) compound and has a more supple carcas than an E and an E is more durable than a D with a little stiffer carcas. These come in 180/55 and 190/55 sizes. These were improvements upon the PR3 and PR5 with the addition of the 190/55 sizes The PR4 was discontinued, it works very well when it hotter that hell out and and in cooler temps but it's fussy about PSI and rebound damping settings. We will have the new Power One which is an all-new tire in 2009.
tell me what I need ,,,,,,besides tire education. lol let me keep this simple. Ive been running 2ct's. what is the next step up? Wanna get in on the tire deal but wanna order the right tire for me. I have lots of track time, run respectable times, Suspension done by ken, wanna move up in rubber. Whats the next step from a 2ct and do they require warmers? thanks, ( if im looking at everything right I believe I need the medium /soft) ?
Notice Trev's the bicycle hanging on the wall behind him. He's bigger than me so anyone else want to tell him it's girl's bike?
That's my DAUGHTER'S bike you goofballs.... my bike is leaning up the inside of the garage door.... t
Little background. I am running in intermediate, quick or not on an 03 GSXR 1000. Last time out for three days i pretty much wore out a PP rear, the front is not too bad. I have had the suspension setup for me by DOS. I know speed wise i am not fast enough to need the PRC PR combo. It s more of a question of cost effectiveness. The question is how long will a single PR Medium 190 last? If i did the math correctly if i get two days out of a single PR Medium rear it may be more economical than a single PP 2CT. What about the power one rears? with and without tirewarmers. Thank You in advance. Voitek
Based on what you're reporting, the answer is your right hand. the way you're blowing through the rear tire, I imagine that you're probably camping in the corners then making up for it by blasting down the straights. work on your cornering, setting your entry speed and maintaining cornerspeed so that you don't need to make up for it at the exit. your rear tire will last a lot longer. better yet, ditch the liter bike and get an sv-65o- you'll learn a lot more about riding technique and you won't believe the life you get outta your tires.
The thing is that the sides are what is wore out not the center or near the center. I try not to corner camp and another bike is unfortunately out of the question $$$
Thats what he is saying through your trying to make up all that time coming out of the corner, hence why your chewing up the rear. If you carry a decent amount of speed through the whole corner you will be able to ROLL on the throttle, rather then fisting it to try and get a good exit. Warmers will help but its not going to make a huge difference If anyone wears out the center of a tire at the track something is wrong, unless your doing a massive burn out becasue you won a ccs or wera championship.
