There is plenty of room to pass and be passed at RA so just have fun!

You will be just fine. In my experience, Road A isn't as hard to learn as a track like Barber. There are some tricky sections to RA, but there aren't as many blind spots. You can usually see what is coming next. :)

If you haven't done so already, look at some youtube videos. That is how i get a feel for a track before going there.

It also helps me if i take notes. After each session, while it is fresh on my mind, i will take some notes about braking markers, turn-in points, gear selections etc. Then read over them before the next session...and add to them when that session is done.

After a few sessions, i will have some pretty decent notes about the whole track.

Have fun and see you there.

Awesome advice! Some here call me Poindexter b/c I'm always reading and studying the track maps. ;) lol! So yes, I love your note-taking advice. Hubby and I are definitely riding Saturday.

Road Atl is nice because there are lots of things to use as markers/reference points. There are signs beside the track in many areas and even hashes/lines across the track (like coming into T6 and down the hill into T10).

Just make sure you (read: anybody) always use something that is fixed as a marker/reference. To be honest, I don't even like using cones because they have been known to move from one day to the next.

Even things on the track like patches can change from one weekend to the next as they make repairs to the surface.

I like to pick something like a sign or a tree.

I have a lot of laps around RA so feel free to hit me up if you or him have any questions. :)

Absolutely. I like to go there and watch when im not riding too. It is funny how coming down that hill in 6th gear, pinned, doesnt look like such a big deal when you are standing on the bridge. A lil different story on the bike. :D

A lot of people in this thread are forgetting that the tire gets smaller when you are leaned over in T9, which also vastly changes what your speedo says.

I am 6th gear on the rev limiter stock geared on a 600 through there, but as I said the bike is leaned over, so it is probalby 140 if I had to make a COMPLETE guess, assuming the bike standing up top speed is 155-160

I'll be riding a 2005 ZX6R with -1f +2r gearing. Im thinking it's going to run out of gear on the back straight. What's recommended gearing for a 600 at Rd Atlanta

I love my ninja 250 on Road Atlanta. I think I can find about 110 or so going downhill into turn 10. I say this not because the speedo works (it doesn't seem to tell me anything after it got disconnected) but on stock gearing it dynos at 102 and at Road Atlanta I run +1/0. The trick is not braking for turn 1. :)

After riding the back straight on a 600, you would be surprised the things you can see on a 250. The 600 feels like a rocketship! - well... atleast until 1000's come out to play. Hahaha.

Stock if you plan to hold it wide open through T9. If you roll out as you tip in a bit to keep it off the rev limit, you can get away with a -1 up front MAYBE, but the -1 +2 will have you on the limiter for quite a ways I bet and will suck in T9

Socket. I can't find the size socket I need in the service manual and I was hoping to buy one before I take it apart again.
