    OK Road Atlanta peeps.....

This year we be running the new turn 12 as everyone else does (goodbye old turn 12 - we will miss you!!!)... but we have the option of running with or without the AMA Chicane. It seems the racer folk would prefer the chicane... what do you want?

    Trevor,

I've only been there once and am not sure what the AMA chicane is. Which turns is it between?

    Honestly I dont care... WAIT...

NO CHICANE.... Your only asking for trouble with it IMO... Keep the Flo Bro!!! Hell its bad enough without the Old 12... And BTW the Racer Folks have practice days already... This is a TD Weekend.... NOT a Race weekend... Just my Opinion...

    Off Soap Box....

We have racers both on staff and many that are customers at our events. Plenty of racers come to our track days to get practice...you know that.

Ultimately the people will decide, but if you're a TD person, you get to experience Road Atlanta like the WERA/AMA folks do and if you're a racer, you get some quality seat time riding the config. you'll be racing.

And some dont want the Race config Derrick... Bottom line.. I am just saying with the chicane and new T-12 Road Atlanta will lose its flavor.. I think we need to keep something traditional and No Chicane is the best we can hope for considering the circumstances.. The Esses are the best part of Road A... And with the chicane there they are gone...

Why not 1 day of each?????

It doesnt ruin the esses. It basically just cuts out T4 (the left hander) and spits you out at the top of the esses. I dont care either way. I will go with majority.

Yes it does.... Kills the flow....and a great place to pass as well... I will do what others want as well but again this is not RACE practice... If we have other options on configs we need ti utilize them if they are better... And this is one of them IMO... Heck this is the one and only time of the year we run Road Atlanta.. Why dosent NESBA run the chicane??? Go ask...

I vote no chicane. I used to run Formula Fords at RA in the '80's and it was a blast the way it was:bounce:

It doesn't kill the esses...it actually adds another ess to the mix..

Also, there are much better places to pass there than turn 4.

    Derrick,

It funnels everyone together single file...Thats when they get killed... Unlike slowing for 1 turn you now tippie toe them both then get your drive unlike 2-3 Not a good idea for a non competiton event.. Hell they were off roading it in the AMA Race weekend...We will have Novices and Intermediates off roading all day long.. It will get ugly I am sure... Like I said I will do either one but the chicane is NOT a good idea for a track day weekend with I and N groups..

You're focusing on safety now, but I'd bet you'd vote to keep the old T-12 if you could which IMO has some safety issues.
If the chicane wasn't safe, I don't think both club level and pro level competition would be racing on that config.
Don't you have faith in our N and I riders.?.:caked:

Marc, we'll just have to agree to disagree..:fencing:

He just wants fewer places for us to pass him.
