i was out riding today and went into Gingerman, and seen some new track construction going on.

looks like there doing something at the pit lane entrance, and alot going on at the southeast side of the track.

looks real curving and happy to see some elevation change in this area.

it drops down over a hill where you can't see the rest of the track, looks cool.

next time i go back that way i'll bring my camera.

yeah, i hear you on winter....

i just bought a bike late sept. after being off them for 25 yrs.

plus i got it right at the end of the track day season.

can't wait till spring and my first track day.
the streets will be safer then too. :)

you probably saw the t10 and t11 expansion that they've been planning for awhile now.

I'm ok with that t10 extension....but the t11 is just wrong if they keep the wall in the same spot. i predict the end of racing there if they enlarge the radius in t11.

if they move the well and extend the sand trap along the front straight, it could work.

I can't believe a track would be dumb enough to make a modification that they know makes the track LESS rideable ...but i have been wrong before.

Wasn't there also a rumor that they were going to change pit OUT, and run the track the opposite direction with the new turn 10?

i'm curious, whats so unrideable or wrong with it ?

i've never riden the track, so i don't know.

i see know, must be pit wall danger.

New T-11 is only going to be used in CCW (that will be CCW T-1.)
We will NOT use the new T-11 in CW direction with the current wall/pit configuration.

Looks like we're gonna have some fun at the "big G" in 2010!!!

The old or current configuration is a tighter and slower turn and if something goes wrong there is the pit out option or the grass and sand trap.

The yellow or proposed T11 in jigs diagram is a higher speed sweeping turn than aims you right at pit wall with no runoff.

But as Monty said the new T11 won't be used by STT in the CW configuration.

My guess is, when it is run CCW we might use the new T11. But when going CW we'll just use the old T11.

It is may understanding that thy also want to extend the front straight and eliminate what is now T1 and T2. It appears that car guys wer complaining that they do not have a big enough straight, therefore T3 becomes T1 for them, however, they will not eliminate T1 and T2 completely.

Seems like if you extend the front straight it'll t-bone the straight 1/3 of the way between 2 and 3. I suppose they could put a big sweeping corner which at the end would attach to T3, then it'd be a crazy decreasing radius corner... though at that point it wouldn't really extend the straight too much... might be fun regardless, I'm running through the gears in my head!

that's a coincidence. just walked in from talking to a kentwood cop that was talking about liking training at grattan rather than gingerman because of the longer straight at grattan.

he was saying they only hit about 100 at the end of the grattan straight.

i've not heard anything about lengthening the gingerman straight. but if they were to do that, it would only really make sense to end it with a very hard braking sharp turn. (imo)

You are correct, if that is what they are doing then T3 would become T2. Next week I am on buss trip in that part of MI and would stop by Gingerman to see what are they doing if there is no snow.

On teh other hand there s not enough for runoff if they extend the straight. Where would the cars go if they miss their turn?

Hahaha, good luck on that one, it is Michigan afterall.

Seems to be a pretty exciting off season for Mi tracks, both are getting some changes!
