Woo hoo. Less than a week to go. Looking forward to the weekend and seeing folks I haven't seen since last year. Weather is starting to look good too. Who's in?
Ill be there for sure..both days in I .. We should have a group of about 12 of us from zx6e.net My only concern about tally is how many riders they let out on the track for any t given session.. Hopefully it won't get to crowded out there....anyword if they fixed that crappy patch around the hairpin?
If you take the track day line you will have to cross over it and it is still a little ruff. If you stay just to the outside of the patch all the way around it is good
There is nothing wrong with that patch.... Its all in your mind.... Just act like its not there and fly on through... We never over crowd our days... If you do get bunched up take 20 seconds in the hot pits and roll on out.. Open track is Gold... Hope to see you there.. Marc
Werd. Plenty of traction on the patch. When people fall down there, 99.5% of the time it due to a "crap, I'm gonna hit the patch, I think I'll cut the throttle" moment.
tally I guess I can play the role of sacrificial lamb for the poker sharks. How much should I anticipate losing? I am an idiot, so will have a freshly painted SV for sale. Assuming I don't wad it up in the bowl.
You know Im in Dave.... I have a few crappy chips and cards do I need to bring them or do you have good chips? I take it your staying at the track...
Why selling the SV man? You're just getting it to where you want it! re: chips and cards...I have good ones, but bring yours in case I forget. re: how much to lose: bring as much as you can afford to play with, and I'm game. More likely, we can have a little tournament for fun...put in a few bucks each, 2nd place gets the few bux back, winner gets the rest...something like that. Of course, this is all just talk...we can't acually play poker for real money
I've seen Tim Hunt drag his pegs all the way around the turn across the patch and he turns a 57 sec. lap there. I've never had a problem with that patch. Try walking the track in the morning just after the sun comes up. There are much worse places than that patch which most don't even realize are there. However, the condition of Talladega is better than 75% of the tracks.
Poker already sounds like a grifters paradise, so of course I'm in......it's under the shell on the left!! As to the sale of the SV, 1 good tax man has relieved me of some concerns. I therefore feel obligated to "stimulate" the economy and upgrade in the engine room dept. Recognizing of course that I will now be "slow on a fast bike", instead of the preferred "slow on a slow bike" scenario I have going currently.
I'll be there Sunday in my canoe.. Should be an interesting day. Since last year, I have purchased a new track bike ('07 R6,) swapped to a MotoGP shift pattern, changed to a different tire, and gone to a softer suspension setup.. Hopefully the rain will break for atleast a little bit during the day so I can get a dry lap or two in the new bike.
Good luck with the GP switch. After 35 years of standard shift, I switched to GP at Barber and never got in a clean lap without upshifting upon braking going to 4th rather than 2nd. A year later, I am used to it. The softer should help if the track is wet.
