Advise them it was a closed course sporting event that did not involve any legally registered motor vehicle. You may have a different plan than I, but that is the only thing that I can advise to do. Good luck!

State Farm here as well. Bike and car got the same answer - as long as it is not a timed event - I was covered.

Always check your policy as they will vary by state and employer. Insurance companies will exclude as much as the employer and state will let them. If it is a group policy check with your benefit administrator (usually HR) at work. They should be able to tell you or find out for you.

As you all know the sport we enjoy comes with consequences at times. I wanted to get added accidental insurance such as aflac or american general accident insurance. I ask one rep would they cover me if I did rock climbing, sky diving or motorcycle track day.. NO NO NO.. he said, if they know up front they would not write the policy.

So do any of you guys have a policy with a company that pays for your medical accident besides your job insurance. Especially getting paid while not working. My job will pay me for 6 wks afer that o well.

I just got off the phone with my State Farm rep and said, that i would be covered in the event i crashed on the track. But, i have to add medical on my policy. And keep receipts of any upgraded parts.

As far as insurance for the bike goes - I have never brought anything to the track that I am not prepared to see turned into a total yard sale. Fortunately the repairs I have had to make due to encounters with the pavement over the years have been relatively minor. <<knock>>

As for me, when I did need to make use of health insurance after my 140-ish mph departure from the gixxer last year at CMP, United Health Insurance (via my wonderful, employed, wife) came through in flying colors. Covered pretty much everything (even the ambulance ride to the local meat sho.... <ahem>, I mean hospital, from the track) with the exception of the wheel chair rental and a few other nick-nacks which added up to $200 or $300.... not bad considering the bill for my feet came to a touch over $60k......

They did send out a questionnaire after the fact, asking if this was a motor vehicle accident, was a police report filed, etc..... basically they were looking to see if there was another insurance carrier they could go after. I answered the questionnaire truthfully - it was a trackday on a closed course track, no police report, etc., and that was the end of it - never heard from them again and all was good.

She told me any upgrades I do on my bike will be included into my claims. But, I know the risk of being on the track; so i doubt it very seriously i would make a claim. But I will add Medical insurance on my motorcycle policy.

In the past I have contacted my agent spicifically to find out if my bike would be covered. I was told that as long as I am not racing and it is not a timed event, its covered.

I was told by my state farm agent that they would only cover $1k of medical, and that it was for all motorcycle policies.

Didn't seem right to me, but .. any ideas?

Every State Farm Agent is different... They all have their own method to their customers...

    They covered my bikes...

Agents are one thing but policy should be the company and not agent dependent.

Well, I recently switched states with State Farm. I was informed that State Farm no longer covers track days and when she checked with underwriting about the timed vs non-timed the answer was the same - no coverage. My agent said this was a recent policy change for State Farm.

It may vary state by state so please check. Let me know if you hear different from State Farm.

I have a different type of question. I have State Farm for everything, but I have a track only bike now. Does anyone get insurance on their bike to cover theft? I have a garage, but let's say I stay in a hotel for a TD or leave my garage up accidentaly and the bike is gone in the morning. Anyone thought about getting coverage for that?

I get minimum coverage that includes, for me, fire and theft. Check with your agent. I'm not sure, but if you don't have a clear title you might have some issues.
