ouch! that sounds like it didn't feel good. lol mine was a 1980 suzuki gs450L. great beginner bike and wouldn't mind having another just to putt around town on. erm, i was 19 or 20 i think?
My first bike was an EX250 in 2001. Then I picked up my '02 R6 in 2002 and have held onto it since. I'm real happy I started on that 250. Since it's not the most powerfull bike I really had to learn how to wring a good performance out of it in order to keep up with my friends on the street who were on 600's and liters. Then when I moved up to the R6 I had a good foundation of skills and power to go with it. I think it made me a better rider than if I'd started on something more powerful. So far I've only had one wreck on the street and that was on my brother's Ducati in the sleet/rain. My other three wrecks have been on the track. Oh and one KTM motard incident at Beaverun's bathroom.
'72 Honda 50 Mini-Trail. Parents bought 2 when I was 7ish. Mom practically gave them away when I was 20ish, since they weren't getting used. Wish we had still them now, the way the Fiddy scene has gone off. First street bike was a left over '97 Buell M2 Cyclone that I bought in '98. Seven bikes later, I was beginning to think I might have a bit of a problem, but I just bought a house with two garages, so it's only just begun.
My first was a '82 honda 450 nighthawk. traded a '67 Fender Coronado 12string for it in 91. riding instruction was like this: "you can drive a stick-shift, right? clutch is left hand; shift is 1 down, 4 up. steering is just like a bicycle..." small wonder, then, that i crashed within a week. picked it up rode home and laid on my sofa for a couple days. upgraded to a yamaha 650 maxim, then a 79 goldwing, which i still have, albeit very modified: i've also had a yamaha xs650 street-tracker, and several vintage bmw's before getting my current bmw R1100S: next up, i think, is an aprillia mille., or maybe a Triumph 675 cheers, lance
Yamaha 60 Mini Enduro was my first "real" motorcycle. We had a QA-50 Honda before that that we shared (we all crashed...) with some cousins.
Mt first bike A Honda 600 Hurricane started it all. I had to hide it from my mother. Yes, the 600 Honda Hurricane was not a match to my mom's wrath. She really was not happy when asked her to be a pit crew member on a 8 hour WERA endurance race. The season is so far away! John
1989 fzr600 - I was 17 ... rode it two seasons, sold it and was broke for a while, then bought a f4 last march and an f4i about month or two ago.. both are track only at the moment... The fzr6 was the first bike I owned, but the first bikes I rode started with mini bikes and mopeds and then old 90cc-350cc dirtbikes. I wish I had started racing a lot earlier though.
I had a RUPP mini-bike. It had a 5 hp pull-start engine, front and rear suspension, two-speed fully automatic engine, and was street-legal. I was 5 and rode every day, even on wet grass. I had a helmet that was 3 sizes too big with a snap-on flex shield. It bounced around on my head so bad it would sometimes block my view...those were the days.
Had a Honda 80 at the age of 12 and then Nothing until the age of 30(V-star 650). bought my first sportbike at 32 and did my first trackday last year.. Havent looked back since,,WOO HOO!!!!!!!
No. It was one of the first 600's in blue. The only dirt bikes I rode were friends bikes. My parents only allowed two wheeled machines without engines.
Me too. my dad was one of those "not under while you're living under my roof"- "those things are dangerous; you'll kill yourself" types. of course, after i'd moved out of the house and got a bike, dear ol' dad was the first to ask "can i take it for a spin?" Lance
