I've been around the place in an open wheel car but never on a bike. I'm interested in your opinions of the place compared to more technical tracks. Anyone from the Chicago NW suburbs going?
I'm not from by Chicago, I'm from somewhere near Detroit, but I'm definitely planning on being there. I watched the AMA race on TV from there a while ago and it REALLY, REALLY looked like fun.     I can't wait to go.
I'll be riding my Ducati ST4s. May not have the power of the big 4's, but the torque of the 4v twin will at least give me a head start out of the turns!
For a really fast lap at RA: don't brake till you see the devil, you'll out brake everyone else because they all broke at the sight of God. No charge for this tip!!!!!!
I'm installing BrakeTech Axis full floating iron rotors next week for just this reason; but I'm still planning on grabbing the lever at the first sight of Jesus.
From Vernon Hills, Well, I will be there also. I have experience with cars as well, in F/F, S/V, F/ Atlantic, and Indy Lights at RA. My only recomendation is, move every apex approximately one to two feet farther forward. On four wheels, exiting over the rumbles almost normal. On a bike, heart in mouth!!!
I was thinking of goind with a slightly higher gearing at this track. Not too much because I like the lower end, but a couple extra MPH on those huge straights I heard about could be quite fun. Now about that braking later. It could be fun once I can figure out some braking points.
If you turn in nice & early for 5, you can go outside the rumble strips at the exit. It's more exciting that way.
Yes, that's exactly the way to do it. Then I can get inside of you at the exit and we'll have a nice drag race up to 6!
Fast lap tip #2 Don't turn left at 5, but go straight and maneuver though the maze of tire walls. Then get on the pit/service road which crosses the track between the BM bridge and 14, make a left and your back on the track. May not make for the most fun lap, but you'll be able to impress your friends with the lap time!!!!
I think someone might get suspicious when a bike starts turning laps under the Indycar lap record. Better to just take a pass on the chicane at the kink.
