Don't think there is enough motorcycle guys who would be happy to buy a trailer with AC preinstalled?
So another idea. In the IT world there are these portable spot coolers used in data centers. They are self contained and have a hose that allows you to route the air into a rack fo servers. The output of a spot cooler could be connected to a small vent in the floor of the trailer. The A/C unit would stay outside of the trailer where the noise would not be as much of a factor. Especially if you had a long hose. This method is not without it's problems of course. You have to haul the A/C unit and set it up and plug it in when you arrive. You also have to protect the unit from rain. If it's super hot out the unit is sucking in hot air and trying to cool it rather than being able to re-cool colder air. I'm considering a Coleman Polar Cub for the roof of my trailer. This is a really helpful thread as I did not really consider reinforcing the roof of my trailer. Glad I read this before I blindly installed a unit and noticed a saggy roof.
Some of the units are low profile. The Coleman Polar Cub I'm considering is low profile. My trailer is a tall one so I don't think the A/C will make much difference. The thirsty Range Rover I use to tow gets a often shocking 8-9mpg. I don't think it can get much worse than that.
^^^ That Polar Cub looks like a nice piece. I'd love to have one of those on my black (HOT!) trailer. -Tom
Wow that's a cool little contraption, pun intended. You could put it in the back of the pickup and run the hoses to the trailer. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
My problem with this is how do I get inside to cool off? Or is that door wall hinged to be opened and closed? if I open the ramp gate it will lose all the cooling.
I pull a 20' trailer and didn't notice any milage dip with the AC unit on. I get a flat 10 mpg with a Tundra.
I do like this idea. No giant holes in trailers! I wonder if there is anything else out there like this, or are these the only ones?
I like this too..... Matter of fact when I see one like this Im gonna just grab it and put it in my tent!!:lmao: Looks like its waiting to be lifted....
