After reading another post......I figured I would ask. Hitting Barber on the 24th (Novice class), only reason why I was curious.
I think you will be fine. At the novice pace at Barber I would have no issue riding on that. I am sure more people with WAY more experience will chime in though.
Thanks Screws & Ridered!!! :thumb: Left & right edge look great, but just off the left center, you can see the "groove" is pretty wore down in certain area's. Not as bad on the right side though. Just hate to get to tech inspection and them tell me "no" then have to pay $$$ for onsite tire swapping  I have another set of tires.....but if I can do 1 day on these I would prefer it! Since I was saving the other tires for after Barber on another trackday. Although it is Novice....I think my riding skills are more lower "I" class. But only riding novice to learn the new bike and the track since I have never been.
What bike? On a 600 at Novice that might go all day. On a BMW with a Novice shoot and go it might not. The area you see as worn is basically from wear you are as you stand it up and get on the gas coming out of a corner. That is where I torch tires also though the real fast guys take the edge out more However if you have a set and the ability to change them why not toss the new one on for the track and then you can toss that back on for the street where you wear out the center. Just one less thing to worry on instead of riding  EDIT: Oops forgot that you had posted this is a track only, right. Can you make this a street tire for a few hundred miles on the other bike? I just think at the end of the day it might be shagged and tires are cheaper than the alternative. Of course that is coming from someone that probably pulls them a bit early.
Yup.....going on a track only 600. I completely understand your thoughts....as I was contemplating making the swap last night, hence the reason why I was looking for alternate opinions on what is mounted currently.... Thanks :thumb:
Its hard to tell from the pics on my mobile but it looks like all the rubber is gone. If the sipes as shallow as it looks to me, its a no go
Typically I'll run rear tires (street or DOT) til they are near slicks. For a novice pace one could say they are fine. But, you say they are Power One tires - they look like the old Power Race tires that hasn't been out in years. If they are that old, I would not run them.
If I were you I'd run them and see how you feel if you do a few laps and don't feel comfortable then switch them out. Tires aren't cheap and if your running a novice pace you'll be fine IMO I ran a mid to fast I pace and I rock tires to the absolute max because I'm cheap lol i just ran this tire for practically the whole second half of the day.... I'm alittle hard on the gas coming out of the corners lol
Dude that looks like a "Michelin Power Race" not a "Michelin Power One" If it is a "Michelin Power Race" then it might be very old. Check the date on the tire like in the pic below. First two digits are the week and the last two the year.
You rock tires to the max.. pffff. I couldn't figure out why I kept sliding on every right at little tally until I came in.
