They are "Races".....don't know why I put "Ones" :wtf: Came with the bike when I bought it... I'll check the date when I get to the house. Is there a reason to why they "have to be atleast 5-6 years old"? Did they stop making those years ago?
Yes. 2008-2009 is my guess at the last time they were made. Then came the power ones and then the power cups. Dude just buy new tires. You're taking the chance of crashing for $300
I have a rear power race on my r6, I just started running it this year, it has been in a garbage bag in my basement for a couple years lol. it's still in ok condition....but those $200 q2's sound pretty tempting!
Already purchased tires! :rawk: Picked up a set of Metzler RaceTek's...... at an unbelievable price! :fear: Anyone run these? Trying to locate recommended PSI for track use....
Never have seen anyone run metzlers at the track... Not to be a buzzkill but I've never heard anything good from metzlers, shinkos, continental, or avons. my two cents is stick with the main brands Michelin, Dunlop,Pirelli. There is a reason why those are the brands 99 percent of track riders use.
From what I have read is that the S1000 RR comes/ came with these in stock form. May have changed...but I figured that BMW isn't going to stick junk on a nearly 200hp, 22K+++ bike.... All the reviews I have read across multiple forums have been pretty good...... I know tyres are like women......everyone has their favorite style....
I think what he was suggesting is that they may not be a "good" track tire. I have used Avon and Metzlers on the street before I am just wondering how they would hold up at a track pace. If you are going to stay in N then I am sure they will be fine!
Hey they have to cut costs some where lol plus I've never seen anybody "stick" with that tire. I'm sure people do I just am saying my observations and just trying to help a follow rider out. Tires obviously are one of the single most important part of the equation. Just giving my opinion
I feel ya! I bet I change after this trackday..... I have been on Pilot Power 2Ct's for the last 2- 3 years..... But I only pulled the trigger after a lot of reviewing and the price point of them. I do appreciate the advice and your opinion.
I have run Avons on my CBR1000RR street bike and love them. Not sure how they would do on the track. As to Metzler I thought they were owned by Pirelli
(904)502-0133 Leon call this guy he is a Pirrelli dealer and gave me the PSI for my M5s since Pirrelli bought out Metzeler. Where did you get your raceteks from?
I have run the M5s from novice to intermediate. Metzelers are also run in the Isle of Mann. The M5s feel just as good as my diablo rosso corsas. The raceteks are the next step up from the M5s. I have only had one slight slip on the track and that was rider error never had a slip on the street even in heavy rain. I rode barbers in the rain with them ans still took a shiny bike home. Ride what makes you feel comfortable.
Nope......Didn't even take the track bike. Decided to take the K6 1000 out since I need rearsets for the track queen. Didn't want to fight being comfortable and having proper foot placement all day long since the pegs are pretty ground down Rode the polished street queen and glad I did. The liter bike on Barber was amazing!!!!!
Scarpino1, My BMW came with the metzler racetech k3s and they are the first set of metzlers that I have owned. I will be replacing them with another set of K3s. No issues at all. I start the day out at 30 and 30 and then go from there.
Thanks for the info..... Hitting Tally this coming weekend with the tires....I'll Let everyone know my thoughts! :thumb:
