Anyone hear about a full repave of the track? Someone on Nesba posted somthing about this.. I am curious as it would be awesome! I know they repaved a section of the south course which was needed, I would like to see them repave the transition from the N course to the S course (the "U" turn) as that is pretty sketchy
I hope they did, the new pavement on the South course is perfect! The U turn especially needs a make-over when you're on two wheels and could be a real fun double apex leading to the finish line when riding the full course.
I drive by there every day. Didn't see any contraction there. I hope they do something about that track. As of now that track off my list. Rocket 46
they did a pretty healthy chunk of the south course last summer, they were supposed to fix the rest after the season, 5-10 was done on south so far (which was the major problem area) now they just need to repave the connecting portion of the north south tracks behind the clubhouse, i've seen that bump fest claim more victims than herpes :lmao:
I prefer the S over the N now with the repave done ! Keep your eyes and ears open folks, I would love to hear they are doing other areas if not the whole track!
The S is definitely the preferred section for me as well, I always thought the transition was a bit sketchy. Let's hope you're onto something here, JT.
I do not like the new pavement on the south track. Local knowledge went away, with the old asphalt. That's no fun. -X
Thats what everyone said when BHF did a repave..lol I like it because it made the track faster through that section :woot: N is fun because its so fast and flowing but I like some technical sections.
Interesting thread. I've never been to ACC and was strongly considering joining for Memorial Day weekend, but I'm out now. I have no desire to spend as much $$ as I would going to that track to have to worry about crashing because of poor track conditions that they won't repair... it actually makes me mad. We can all admit, this sport is dangerous and as costly as track days are, I want nice, smooth track! (haha, like Barber!)
Ha Sherry, I think you, like many of us, have been spoiled by Barber. Personally, I think you would be doing yourself a huge disservice by passing on ACC. There is nothing wrong with either the North or the South course. Since they paved the section on the South, I would say the place is awesome. Each track offers something different. The north flows nice but is short. The south, my favorite, is longer and more technical. Some say the South is too point and shoot. This may be true until you pick up the pace and try stringing it all together. Oddly enough, I'm just not a fan of the Full course. True, the connecting turn is just so so. It's one turn on the whole track. I just roll through that turn and get back on it. DO IT!
I'm stoked to learn the south, I avoided it like the plague with the bumps, but I will ride as much as I can there.
I never had a problem with any configuration at ACC even before the repave. People talk about it being rough but I just don't see it!?? Even the connector is fun, just keep it real. Maybe i'm just not picky, I love Gingerman too and that's rough! You get a good feel for your bike on not so perfect tarmac, plus you'll know if your suspension needs adjusting quick smart. Bring on ACC and the after party!!
I was never a fan of South until this past year, not sure if it was the re-pave or just mental but I usually didn't ride on Sunday on the holiday weekends but it all clicked last year for me. And the re-pave is AWESOME, but I've been to worse tracks. I do love the North to South transition, it's a tad bumpy but just be smooth through it and you'll rock! It's pretty easy to pass there too! Sherry - u are spoiled by Barber, lol. You should definitely check out ACC at least once! But I personally prefer North over South, it just flows better for me.
I've seen pictures of Nelson Ledges and I can't believe people actually pay to go there. What I saw was cracks so big that grass was growing up ON the track. It looked deserted. I have been spoiled by Barber, but I ride the streets as well and I'm in awe more and more about the condition of tracks.... when the street condition is better than track conditions, I begin to lose interest in track riding -- and I don't want that because I have way more fun on the track!!! But it's hard for me to justify driving 5+ hours for track riding when it isn't taken care of, so that's why I suppose I'll stick to Barber. I'm lucky to have good roads/twisties around me too that lead to even better twisties. C'mon Barber!
Nelson Ledges is THE worst track I've ever ridden on. ACC on the other hand is quite the opposite. Everything there is well taken care of including the track. Sorry we'll miss you at ACC. We will be at Barber too.
