While Grattan is in my top 3 of favorite tracks (Mid-Ohio & VIR are the other two), I think Sherry would pass out if she saw the track surface there. lol. Us Northerners have to learn how to ride on roads full of gravel, tar snakes, and amish land mines. we're not so picky.

I like hills and blind turns too.

    ^^thank you!

Haha I don't do gravel at all! Even in cars are tricky... many, many years ago, I had to call a tow truck to come pull me out of a gravel driveway after my car got stuck within the rocks (true story!)

Tar snakes - I remember how much the bike squirmed around in the rain on tar snakes, making me a bit fearful. I recently got a dirt bike to play on so I am quickly getting used to the loose feeling.

Maybe it's also where my bike's suspension plays a role; I think I feel too much under it.

I'll watch some videos of ACC and decide. There are a few folks here from the Louisville area that are interested in trekking up as well.

Can't really say too many good things about the track...I think if you come and try it out, you won't be disappointed. Both North and South have something unique to offer. If you're worried about what been said regarding the surface, do the north....no areas of concern there. While you're there, you can take a look at the south, since it's right there. I may be a bit biased as this is my "home" track....being only 45 min away. I think there's always a bit of a leap of faith when trying a new track. I know I didn't try Grattan and Gingerman until last year. Grattan was about a 4 1/2 hour drive so I get that there's a bit of an investment involved but I know any weekend spent at the track, regardless of where it is, usually turns out to be a great one...

i had a hard time finding video after the south course repave, but here's one. keep in mind this is a video from bart, and his riding style makes anything look more exciting. ;) the about 1/3 of the track is dark pavement, that's where it's been repaved and it's smoooth. never mind the sealer patches and other track "character" - it all has good grip.

Wow I want to ride with you :D (or at least try haha) Thanks for sharing! Gives me a different opinion of the track.

Good find Jen :) I was smiling the whole time watching this video!

I'll admit I am not feeling the same way I did about ACC HAHAHAHA North of course looks in better condition, but south isn't too far behind. It looks fun. What about the bumps I've heard about? Are those really that bad?

Oh yes, Steve P - he's my favorite to ride with (you too Tea) :D He pulled me around Barber several times this past season and the last session on a 2 day event - when I'm most wore out and lap times are dropping; someone on a bike I didn't recognize got my attention and that last lap I managed to get my best lap time of the weekend hahahaha (and best ever for me!) It wasn't until I went to say my byes to Tea that I recognized Steve's bike!

I'm putting ACC on my list. Just not sure what days it will be yet; will have to talk it over with some friends that will want to join as well.

If you're going to make the drive you might as well do memorial weekend or labor day weekend. Those weekends are our 2 big events at ACC (food, party etc). Both events are also 3 days so you can experience all the combinations the track has to offer.

Totally agree with Nick on the 3-day weekends. Three tracks in three days, plus some outstanding party action at night. You ride North the first day, South the second day and Full the third. I BEG AND PLEAD to do Advanced on Full Course Monday. When you combine the two courses, you lose Turns 1-2 North, (not my favorites) lose the last two turns on South, (VERY MUCH two of my favorites) and gain Clubhouse, which is a challenge but one that I love. There's even a JUMP on the connecting straight!!!!:wheel::eek: (You can avoid that if you want to.)

Full course lets you truly see what ACC was meant to be. The full layout has a rhythm that the halves lack. Plus, there are so damn many turns that you start to feel like you're at the Nurmburgring! I'd NEVER miss a 3-day at ACC. It's got to be the best deal in trackdays. So yeah. Come play with us. We'll show you an awesome time! :cheer:
