Ok this is my story. I used to have a 07 R1 with 200 tires and I was dragging my knee with no problem. This year I got an R6 (I was about to trade it for a triumph but I kept my 600 and I'm freaking happy) with 190 tire abd I CANNOT DRAG MY KNEE. I've been trying and working in boduy positionig and still cannot do so. Coaches said I have proper BP but can someone be able to tell me whay may I be doing wrong or what should I try.

I know it's hard to say what the problem and solution is over the form but I can takr information and apply it this following weekend!

Stop focusing in dragging your knee, and go faster and lean MORE. Dragging knee is just a guage, not a requirement or a measure of skill.

I agree on that one and believe me it's not that I pay attention to it, just feels a bit weird that I can't do it.

....and come on I would like to scuff my knee pucks too ..

IMHO, dragging your knee is over-rated. You want to get off the bike to hold it up to keep it on the meat of the tire not to drag your knee.

The more you get off the bike, the more upright the bike will be at a given speed. The next step is to go faster, which will then necessitate leaning the bike more. The fastest guys in GP get way off the bike and also lean the bike to ridiculous levels. It doesn't have to be one or the other, do both and go fast....

My opinion is stop worrying about your knee or your gonna end up with more than a knee on the ground. Focus , ride hard but within you limits. As things progress and time goes by youll suddenly realize wow I need new pucks. It happened to me too after going from Yamaha to a cbr ,I was only dragging the left knee. After I stopped worrying about it and just rode (especially chasing a good CR ) I was getting new pucks often. Focus on the track , not your knee it will happen sooner than you think!

Why are you running a 190 tire on an R6? The R6 is fast and nimble, why put that big tire on it?

GO FASTER!!! The R6 is an amazing bike that turns very quickly (get rid of the 190), just think turn and the bike turns in.

Stop worrying about draggin' a knee, focus on your lines, being smooth and the speed will come, which will require more lean angles (get rid of the 190).

I bet you if you get rid of the 190 tire, you will drag your knee. It's slowing up your turn in, which is also slowing you down. If you want to use the 190 and drag your knee, GO FASTER and turn.

    I have a 200 on mine. I can drag knee ;)

    <--

Don't think it's the tire, just increase your lean, speed and work on the BP. You'll get there. R6's take a bit more lean to get there.

That's pretty cryptic. Are you trying to say that he should get ride of the 190 tire? :)

When I was still tracking my SV, I was dragging knee in every turn, and sometimes toe and peg. I was told I needed new rearsets. On my CBR, I've gotten much faster, but don't drag my knee as much. I don't worry about it and just focus on my lines, speed, and being smooth.

Look guys I get it, knee dragg is over rated. I honestly pay more attention to my lines, BP, braking points abd being smooth. Gotten faster a bit and I think I should be riding on I group pretty soon.

I got 190 because I called Race National Tire Service and they recommended those to me. Don't get me wrong I love those GP-As but I feel like I should try something different. No one at the track, well only a very few people has experience with this tires.

    Any recomendation?

Me too man, at ACC I was able to dragg my knee all the way through the carrousel and over the back corners I was touching the floor with my toes even tho I was posotioning my feet the right way.

Im also surprised that a lot of guys use 190's and 200's on a lil 600 bike.
Not sure why that is, especially on the track since they dont push that much horsepower. I remember back in 2000 my CBR ran on a 160 rear just fine!

little 600?! Also remember 600 now have 105-110 at the wheel whereas when they had 160's they had about 80-90 I use a 180 but to each his own.

I dragged knee to in novice when I didn't know correct body position. Head up over the tank, hops way over the aide with my knee out and f
Dragging. With correct body position, my upper body is way off the bike and my ass was over the seat correctly and my knee was no longer touching but I was going much faster. Only now that I have gotten to advanced I have slowly started dragging my knew again.

They had already over 100HP back then. keep in mind that the big bikes use 190 and 200 tires making about 200HP. Now there it makes sense to have a wider tire!
Compared to this numbers the 600's are "little". I have one of them too and run a 180 tire as well. But I wouldn't go any bigger.

Because Dunlop doesn't sell a 180 race tire.

The real question should be why are you wasting your money on a full race tire in Novice?
