You should sit in a Truck with him on the way up to Indy.... "To Make a Long Story Short"....... I heard that once in every State...
I am finally able to get out of bed and to the computer. Four days post crash. The results: Broken left leg lower tib Broken right wrist Sprained right ankle Further damage to my already bad left shoulder Badly rashed left elbow Rashed right knee Lots of bumps and bruises even on my ass! At least my Johnson is still intact and working (to some extent that is, meaning I can pee....) My ortho Doc put a boot on my right ankle to help with the swelling but cannot hard cast the wrist nor the left leg till next week when the swelling goes down. He sais about 6-8 weeks recovery time. Lois , of course has been a real saint and gotten me anything that I need and we even got the motorhome winterized yesterday. The bike is toast as is most of my riding gear but all that stuff is replaceable. Due to a great helmet, chest protector, back protector and leathers I have no internal injuries so I am thankful for that. I have analized the crash in my head for a few days and as is always the case, this was indeed rider error. I was following Brian Van with David Grey behind me, as we came out of turn one onto the short strech to turn two, I shifted to forth and then to fifth gear, my line was a bit tighter than normal as I approached turn two at about 120 mph, at that point because of my tighter line I "breathed" out of the throttle at the exact point of my "tip in" for the turn, when I "breathed" the throttle just for that mili-second, at that speed, it loaded the front end causing the front tire to wash out and I was just along for the ride at that point. I was actually doing pretty good with lots of "ashfault-sky-dirt-sky-dirt-sky" until the bike collected me and gave me a pretty good pounding. All in all considering the speed of the crash I came out of it pretty good and will heal with time. I am still in a considerable pain but managable. (Paul can you mail me some of that "good stuff" they gave you?) As Lois sais "this was not our first crash in our 31 years together and probably not our last either" It is all part of the risk we take when we sling a leg over a bike. Have to say thank you so much for my staff for getting everything finished up properly for our customers at Jennings and for getting everything loaded up correctly in the motorhome and trailer. Thanks for taking care of our dog Abby while Lois and I were in the hospital and special props out to Matt Dean and Nate Simmons for driving us home nine hours straight Sunday night and for Ed Satori and Derrick McMillion for following in a chase role in case anything happend on our way home. And a super Thank You to Rodney Wilkes for getting up at 1am and driving from AL to Cleveland,TN in horrible weather to pick up Matt and Nate and return them home safely. Most of all thanks to all of the fantastic STT customers we have that have called, posted, sent e-mails etc with concern for myself and Ms Lois, it shows what kind of "family" we really have. Thank you all. Mark Now about that lavender eye shadow...........
Good to hear from you Mark! Heal up quick and let me know if you need anything over the off season. I'll take any excuse to get out of town. I have some friends in Knoxville that have been bugging me to come up so if you need help I can make that trip and stop by and help you out on the way
Hey Mark, this is Christine. I don't have an account here but I wanted to thank you for the update and wish you speedy recovery.
Hi Mark, it's good to hear from you, heal up soon!! How did you get so much road rash?? Did the leathers come apart?
Good to hear from you Mark.....glad it wasn't worse for sure...now rest up and enjoy the Holidays and don't drve Miss Lois Bats!!
I am not trying to speak for him, but as I went by I actually noticed it looked like he had an older pair of leathers on. I am going to GUESS the same reason I had an older pair on. I use the older pair in the rain, so not to mess up a new pair, and had not changed out of them for the dry yet. Might not be the case though :?:
i'm assume 'breathed' means let off a bit and guessing you meant to say LOADED the front end (only clarifying for those that are learning and might get misguided) glad you're doing well. didn't know you got tangled up with the bike. was wondering why all the injuries until i heard that. ugh...that part had to suck.
Mark, Glad to see that you are in good spirits and get well soon. I look forward to riding with y'all next season!
Good to hear from you Mark!! Keep your Spirits up and heal up fast.. If you need a hand wit the bike/parting/selling/rebuilding just call... The R1 is running and ready for ya!!
