Here is one of Nick's videos from Sunday's novice group one after a red flag shortened session. http://youtu.be/sR8vEo-Ukwg
yep, Nick liked Aaron a lot. He got the bump to I for next time. We will be heading down in the beginning of Aug for both Sat and Sun.
Not the most exciting but here's two of my clips from Sunday Novice(Session 4/5?) Group 3 http://youtu.be/NYfnyT4rls8?t=1s http://youtu.be/Xdj5LmZ9y74?t=1s
No one caught the crash novice Sunday before and after lunch sessions? Blk zx10 down in 3 and bus stop
Here is one from Sunday http://youtu.be/qrzHbn7BVsE If anyone has any thoughts on how to stop the bouncing / pogoing that you see when I'm braking for t1 and the bus stop I'd like to hear them. Beyond that this was a good session for me.
Fork oil is 7 track days old. Beginning of this year I set the front per Ohlins basic set up guide. Last year I had the forks (Ohlins cartridges) serviced and set up for me.
Are you going faster than you have before? Might just need a tweak. I'd double check the sag, & try some damping changes. Could be just a balance thing. There's always a chance that something failed, or is just out of whack too. Any high speed parking maneuvers in the meantime? Maybe changed a wheel/tire & something got bound up? Brakes aren't working/releasing properly, or tightened properly?
Do you have a zip tie on your forks? You may need to add a little of pre-load to the forks. I had to adjust my preload up & down depending on the track. I had to add 5mil to each fork to add preload to 6 clicks out for Grattan , but at ACC I'm 12 clicks out of full stiff.
I am going faster now about 10sec a lap. I have also upgraded the entire front braking system. Doesn't seem to make a difference what tire brand I use. The suspension guy had a 10.25 spring rate. I have changed that to a 11.0. I have also thought about adding some fork oil. Ohlins recommends a oil level of 130mm the suspension guy set it at 150mm. So figuring he knows what he is doing ? When I changed the fork oil I set it to 150mm. Next time out I will try raising the oil level. Could this be operator error? I mean is it possible that I'm being to hard or abrupt on the brakes?
Being abrupt/hard on the brakes shouldn't make the front end pump. If nothing is wrong (spring rate, oil volume, loose/broken parts), it could simply be your faster pace requires a tweak to your set-up to support it.
Congrats on that:thumb: It was very apparent last time out that you had turned up the pace. Are you sure it's entirely in the front end? Being abrupt downshifting especially on a bike with no slipper clutch will definitely make the rear and hop.
11.0? I'm on .95 springs right now, personally I'd recommend starting with a new baseline and get the sag right then worry about all the other stuff. Just because ohlins recommends it, it doesn't mean that all riders are created equal. Riding style and bike matter greatly.
Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's in the front. I only feel it in the front. When braking for the bus stop I can feel the back moving but it doesn't seem to be causing the issuing in the front. And I my bike has a slipper clutch. It's the factory one but seems to work.
