Thanks for posting the video Ken!

:D I had a great time and learned alot on my first track day (Sunday, wasn't there Saturday). A big :D to the instructors Mike my instructor and Kristen (I think that was her name) who helped me out alot with my #$*@ zipper LOL.

Awesome lunch, wish there'd been a photographer though... so Im glad I can look at your video. What class were you in... I was the slow one in the novice class on the red SV 650.

Did your tires pick up a lot of like melted rubber on the track or something like that? My husband couldn't believe what my tires looked like when I got home LOL. :?:

I run in the Advance group and you could not have picked a better group to run for your first track day than with than STT.

As far as the marbles you picked up, you will pick more up if you run off the race line. As you gain more experiance you will find that your tires will become cleaner with each track day.

I would have liked Brian to been there as well for photos but it is along drive for them.

If you attend an event that Brian with Quick Turn Photo is at, buy a disk from him at the beginning of the day. He does a great job. His quality is top notch. He makes you look like a pro.

this was my first time at a track day EVER and i had a great time.

i think i realized that more on the drive home than rather on the track. it's quite intimidating the first time at least for me

even though i dont think i soiled my suit by the end of the day i smelled like i had.

im still sore today, it really is a work out. im certiain its like any action sport the first time you do it (surfin, sking) your body is fighting during the whole experience cause its new, i hope the more i do this the less stressed i get. plus there are so many things to think about during the whole experience, including... dont kill yourself its amazing the skills required

i hope to go to moroso in december. thanks for the vid ken, you seem to do pretty well in that group.

also andreaf congrats on your track day, it was our first day too right?

props to the whole staff at STT :D

Welcome to the addiction. You will soon find yourself scrapping money togather for tires for your next track day.
Riding on the street will now seem boring.
Glad you liked the video. Make sure and talk to the track coaches on your next visit. They are great and always wanting to help riders develope their skills. Mark and his team are fantastic.
I just have to find a way to slow him down so I can follow him for more than 2 turns.

    now that's a question, tires?

the duc dealer tried to get me to buy track tires, but my bike came with pilot power and the STT staff said that they were fine and they seemed to stick great all day (for my riding level)

at what time do u recommend switching to racing tires?

as far as the coaches they were outstanding, one guy slowed down to let me follow him for a bit and it was extremely helpfull as i could just follow his line and not stress about braking to late or starting the turn too soon.

but i had a hard time staying with the novice pack when riding alone, so i hope that they were not complete newbies like me, otherwise i have a lot of catching up to do... no pun intended

There is no need for now that you are new to get slicks or race tires your dealer is trying to get your cash $$$$$ the pilot powers are fine for Novice , ge tire at STT there price is way better than your dealer.

Well I was in NOVICE group one but I have about 30,000 street miles of seat time on my bike, and this was my second track day, Its good to find your confort zone on your motorcycle.

    1. As you do more track days, stop by and see the twins with STT. Kenny was changing tires this past weekend. The twins normally run it. Talk to them. They will guide you in the right direction as what tire to use and when. Their tire prices are great. As your skill grows, you will begin to feel your tires and you will understand what they are trying to tell you. Also consider if you plan on using tire warmers as well. If you do buy race tires down the road, pick up warmers. You will need to reduce the number of heat cycles they go through to prolong the life of the tire.
    2. When you follow people, a rider has the tendancy to push harder as they see the target ahead of them. When you are on your own, it is just that, you are own your own. No target. Again, as your experiance grows you will get past this.

Yes, they were great instructors. It was my first track day. I've been riding about a year; learned on a cruiser (I did rid e the Tale of the Dragon on a Harley went slow but it was fun). OTher than that not a lot of experience with curves. Bought my little SV this summer and just love it. She did great on the track IMHO and could have done more with a better rider

I did enjoy it between bouts of sheer terror LOL. My brain was pretty much on overload. I realized after like the 3rd or 4th session what someone was saying about the concrete patches being slick. I was hitting them every time LOL. H*ll I don't know if I was on the racing line or not, I was just trying not to become a grease spot most of the time!!

I also realized after lunch that everyone else went a lot faster in the straights. I was still doing the drill with 3rd and 4th gear on my 650 and not upshifting or accelerating too much in the straights DOH. Also I would go way up onto the Nascar part on the back straight, just to have the fun of going downhill into the turn by the pits. I realized later that that would add time to the lap, right? But in any case, Valentino Rossi has nothing to fear here. :? :?

andreaf not that i would know but you did great i was behind you on one of the sessions.

i think we were pretty much on the same boat, 1. i also went up un the track and down the hill right before the pit, it was fun and did not realize it was not the right line till later in the day.

"fun" did not compute till the day was done and i was driving home then the whole day seemed liked a blast and driving on the turpike at 70mph seemed like i was going 35mph :D LOL

instructors were GREAT mine was Kirsten the one that claims to have two “alien†kitties. and there was another instructor dont know his name that let me follow him and he was very helpfull too

cagnix i think your name should now be teacher's pet LOL, i remember you.

I was the dork in the red ducati 749
, so who is going to moroso?

FYI, i never went out of 3rd gear

Hi Cagnix, now I know who you are (Teachers Pet LOL!!)

I'm a teacher myself and I know who I was... the remedial student who doesn't quite get it

Hi Hoser, I think i remember you and you looked good to me!! OF course a Ducati always looks good ha ha.

Not sure about Moroso. It might be fun now that I know more what I am doing. So glad to hear someone else didn't have the throttle wide flipping open either! And hey the hill WAS fun...we don't get too many hills in South Florida!

I ran off the track at one point into the grass. I don't think anyone saw because I was at the back of course. I was leaned ALL THE WAY OVER and I scraped the heck out of my left peg, on that S turn after you come in off the front straight. I think I had to straighten up a bit becuase my leg felt like it was going to shake off and I ran right into the grass but didn't go down
 Mike was up ahead and turned around and saw me in the grass, I gave him a thumbs up and he motioned me to just come on so I did. Anyone else have an oopsie?
