I apologize to everyone in novice, im not sure which group i was in but i catch to much speed going in turn one and had to doge about 4 riders, i touched grass at some point but instinct told me to let off the front brake as soon as i felt the front loose grip, then back on the curbing and hard braking, i was the white and red rider. im sorry again guys, i figure next time ill try intermediate cause i couldnt find a steady line on the track unless i followed the young kid on the 125cc, and even then i wouldnt dare to pass in the ways he did.

sorry we slowed u down Okami

now is it just me or are people not really using this forum to its potential. I went through a lot of posts and it seems that people are not getting on line and sharing?

its amazing that there is only one thread on homestead

shoot there was a guy on a green kawas that locked up right in front of me and another guy that had an orange bike that went out to... and then someone else on a white bike i was told looked like the ambulance took him

id just like to know they are ok and even know what they did to put them in that predicament.... that would be helpfull info

    peace out

:) No need to apologize Okami. Hey I was at the very back of the pack in the remedial position anyway. I saw the guy on the green Kawi go down. He was OK though, his bike was banged up. He was getting it trailered back to Key Biscayne where he lives. I spoke with him in the pits because I knew he'd ridden down, and might have to ride the battered bike home. I offered to follow him if needed. But he was OK just banged up his hand a bit.

The white bike I think was Alicia? One of the 3 lady riders. I heard from the other gal from Ft. Lauderdale that Alicia was OK but her bike got banged up.

As far as out of town, probably not for me.. with my family situation and all it'd be hard to pull off (2 kids, one with a lot of medical issues making it difficult to travel with him). I will probably do Homestead again when they come back. Also I REALLY REALLY want to go to FemMoto in Las Vegas...it's all demo bikes from all the major players and you get to ride them on the track :)! I'd fly out there and just have fun. Femmoto is to encourage women to ride sport bikes and do track days. I can see that women are generally outnumbered on the track now but that really doesn't matter too much to me one way or the other. Hey guys all you have to do is shave real good and wear a wig LOL.

    :D

the guy on the orange and white bike is Alex and we met at Homestead it was is first track day so I invited him to pit with me and my family. he is ok just some damages on the bike, I spoke to the guy on the green Kawasaki he explained to me that he went done for a malfunction of the front brake, I saw the one rider on the white bike . I think it was the guy with the gxr 1000rr white with carbon-fiber insert, but I’m not sure I hope they are doing well.

Yes he went down a turn before me, he was also pitted near me, I remember dragging my knee and the next thing i see is this guy on the ground, so i quickly stood up the bike, before he fell I had an instructor come up to me furious about finding him cause he nearly put him to the wall, I'm not sure what the guy was doing wrong but hope he gets better. his bike was the white/silver gsxr1000, didn't look to good :"(

yeah okami i remeber an instructor being upset about some guy on a white bike.

andreaf, u should go to femMoto that sounds like a blast, VEGAS BABY! :D but u should go to moroso that seems so close kind of a shame to wait till they come back around to homestead.

the guy in the green kawa wend down right in front of me but it looked like he locked them up as he was braking before the turn it was kind of spookie i dogged his mirror

also i dont remember any other female riders in novice, did they not come into the classroom?

i can understand him locking it up, but i dont get how he went down, grass and braking dont mix, maybe thats what hapend, i mean to lay down a bike under braking as its standing up in pavement... thats when most ur tire is on the ground so... i still dont get it, i brake hard, hard enough to get the rear loose just by using the front weight shift and brake but i never had a low side due to it, i can understand too much brake as ur braking into the apex... this isnt a novice technique though. whats your imput on this?

There was a girl in pigtail braids--Alicia...she was in the class 1st session in novice. I heard from the other young lady that Alicia messed up her bike but was OK, I think in the 2nd or 3rd session. I didn't see her anymore that day. The other female had a long brown braid, black leathers, and rode an R6. I think she was in intermediate class???

Im kinda on the fence about Moroso, a little difficult though not impossible with family situation. If Mike (instructor) were going to be there, I would be more likely to go because he pulled me through the turns and everything; I'm a total newbie and I dont' even think I could do another track day without someone like that pulling me through.

I have to tell you, the first session when Mike said we were going to go PAINFULLY SLOW and it felt FAST as HECK to me...was pretty terrifying. I've only been riding a bit over a year and bought my SV this summer (excuses excuses) ...not a lot of time on curves living in south FLA. I did learn alot and got faster, but feel out of my league with most of the riders there. I was thinking FemMoto is more relaxed pace, demo bikes, all gals?? I maybe totally wrong though!!

Okami as far as the kawasaki , it was in front of me still going straight towards turn 8 starting to slow down to get set up for the turn then i see smoke coming from the tires like both or the front wheel locks up then the bike goes down straight into the gravel as i doge parts

andreaf, ill be honest with you were are in the same boat i was pretty nervous and could not keep up with anyone on all of the outings we had , i was getting smoked all day, and that does not bother me as long as no one clips me. i think i was to proud to put up my hand when mike askesd the question about who is concerned about ther first track day.

i think our second time out were going to be a lot more confortable, but i agree id like someone like Mike or Kirsten to lead us through or trail us, heck in fact id pay extra for that, i would think one would learn a lot more that way

so i go out this weekend for a spin, all those turns that i though i was C. Stoner going through made me realize that i was barely even pushing the bike :? . i can honestly tell you riding a track has completely ruined my street riding experience :x

    8) Hey hoser I think you did great. I don't know about Saturday, but on Sunday for sure there were only a few people on their absolute 1st track day..most of the novices had some time under their belts. So you really cant compare yourself to them. You improved, had fun, want to go back. You rode within your skill level at the time and DID NOT WAD UP YOUR BIKE (that was a victory for me; really didn't want to crash!)

Went riding this weekend between raindrops. My husband and his friend commented on how I was riding different (better), taking corners and so on (not squid stuff LOL at my age).

I"m with you...now on the street it feels so slow and I get impatient with drivers in the way when I am trying to set up a corner or go fast around a curve!! Fast is a relative term I learned, but fast for me anyway!! 8)

:D Hey Shawn great to hear from you! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day! Yeahh, it took me about a week to be able to walk normally LOL. But I rode my bike to work Tuesday & Wednesday last week!!

My husband at one point was convinced I"d crashed because my little one just came and sat on my lap and my thighs were so sore I yelped in pain. HE is like "Are you sure you didn't crash?/ What happeend?" and I am saying, no I am just SORE.

It was a really fun day. I don't think Arianna has sent me the pcis yet, my email is fuent99@bellsouth.net. Please tell her thank you!!! Did she get any good pics of you? (hopefully not high siding)

LOL that is actually the bottom flap of the jacket, what is showing is the pink T-shirt and the black jacket flap, it was hooked but not zipped up.

Kristen & another instructor had to come up when I got off in the pit due to being BLACK FLAGGED and help me zip my pants to my jacket.. I'd gone to ladies and couldn't figure out how to zip it together. Later in the day Mike had me zip the pants legs tighter.

h*ll no; drs. have told me I have very little cartilage left in my knee and how can I do aerobics and ride motorcycles etc etc etc. whatever!!!

I feel so happy even though I am slow :D because when I was in kindergarten I went to an INDy 500 practice session. I'll never forget that. I got autographs and met some of the drivers (this was a LONG time ago back in the 60s OK?) I told everybody I wanted to be a race car driver when I grew up (or else an astronaut). I remember trying to figure out why everybody said "GIRLS CANT DO THAT" because I thought it is not that hard to drive a car...why can't I do that....

I wish I could find some of those bozos now LOL! OK it only took about 40 years ha ha to get on a track. On a bike even better.
