Okami I hear you on the GSXR. I really rode it *(My husband's) for the first time yesterday; we were out playing around on Krome Avenue and rode down to the Keys for lucnh. Didn't get to try it in any real curves/corners as such of course.

WOW I can't believe the power and how it wants to go so fast so fast. Huge difference from my Sv 650S.

Honestly I think I am better (for now) to learn to ride the SV 650S up to more of its potential (w/in safe limits of course). I've been riding about 1 yr 4 mos started on a Triumph cruiser.

Or do you think I should ride a faster bike on the track just so I don't get lapped so often?? :D My mechanics rag me like crazy about my "baby bike" and how I should upgrade to a liter bike. I am like why? I like my bike???

The SV650 is a great track bike. Liter bikes are a handful. I run an R1. It is very easy to highside on them do to the power. What is great about your bike is that you can make a throttle mistake and it will not be detrimental. If you recall, Mark always makes it a point to call out as to how many are on liter bikes. This is do to the high rate of highsides because of throttle mishaps.
Seat time is what you need NOT a liter. There many upgrades available to your bike that will also make you more competitive.

seems to me, that particular SV650S is much more competitive than her hubby's gixxer, seein' as the gixxer sat in the garage on oct 20, 21 8)

Don't listen to people like that, I ride a 929rr for 2 years now, and I'm going to ditch it soon for a SV650, all my friends tell me I wont like the power difference, but power is not why Im on a track, It makes me mad when they tell me this cause since they ride, I asume they know better, but not many people are willing to go through their ability and acctually take the time to learn how to be slow before fast. Hence why my bike is still in one piece - its too scary to know what can happen after a highside last year coming out of a turn, now with a 650 Ill have more room for errror, and learn much more things than just powering out of corners hoping the tires will hook and not throw my 130lbs ass off the sadle.

Stick to the 650sv, trust me, ur not missing out on much. more power is one of the biggest distractions.

I agree with all of them you do not need a litter bike to be fast jest more time in the track, Andrea you will see next track day you will be faster :)

    Thanks everybody for the advice!

I enjoy the straight line speed of the gixxer, but honestly in my heart LOL I feel like I'd rather learn to ride the SV really really well on twisties instead of jumping too fast into too much bike. The throttle response is quite a bit different.

Hey I like what Shawn said.. my husband didn't even WANT to Do a track day...

    Yes I'll pitch in too.

I am trying to work on my technique in the meantime, still pretty pathetic LOL....Hey I got my bike up to 120 on Okeechobee Road (deserted stretch between lights) today~ that's the fastest I've ridden so far.

Sadly, I traded bikes w/my husband (GSXR 1000) and he still ran away from me on the big curve on Krome Avenue. I guess I am just chicken. We had fun riding though.

there is a turn on krome?

honestly, i have not realy enjoyed riding the street since our track day.

i cant imagine riding a liter bike, i can imagine that all that power would get one in trouble fast.

I was bumming that for almost the same price as my 749 i could of waited a year and got a 1098, but based on my track day i think the power curve and the feel of the smaller bike was the better choice

PS... could of waited 2 years ang got an 848 for less... :?

Yep there is a turn on Krome going north from 8th Street before it hits Okeechobee. Right hand 90 degree turn. I think it is posted 30 mph or something like that. Not that dramatic but better then nothiing. :?

There are closed places here in west palm to get some seat time, with great run off but don't recommend going alone and its hard to get a rythm going untill you stop thinking of the consequences.
Anyway today was my last run out there, and Im already signed for moroso, so untill then I'll try to preserve my tires, heres some pics of todays damage lol.

    ps.ZX10's are HEAVY!!!

looks more like what happens when you 'perform' a donut after the tire's spent anyway

This is my friends rear tire, he wears 1 tire in a couple sunday runs we do, he keept this tire for a 2nd day and that's how it turned out, me and him were at the same level on his worn tire, and usually I dont have a chance to follow him unless he purposely slows down, he doesn't do track days but I'm sure he would be automaticly thrown in the advance, he's got about 41000 hard miles on his zx10 and knows that bike better then anyone i meet so far.
