103dB @ 50ft is pretty generous - I would suspect only the most obnoxious exhausts would break that.

Keep in mind sound pressure is a logarithmic scale - so 103dB is twice as loud as 100dB, 100 dB is twice as loud as 97dB, etc.

Jennings limit is 102dB, if that means anything...

No thanks I am out. I cannot support that way of thinking at this time.

I was thinking the same. I highly doubt any of us are close to 101 db with the exhaust we've got available.

I don't know about any other brand, but my Triumph is 80db with OEM pipes. I doubt I have 103db with my Arrow full exhaust.

That's good to know that it's generous enough not to create an issue. I would HATE to find out the hard way. I have an app on my iphone that checks db and I am going to run a redneck 'test' (i.e., make all my neighbors mad) to see what it reads.

My TBB GP Short exhaust IS 'pretty obnoxious'...

Why self impose restrictions to give the nanny state a toe hold. I might have been overly revved up as I had spent the day on meds  but it grinds me still. What happens if someone shows up and fails the test? Do they get reimbursed including gas and hotel? I suspect not. Just getting old and mean and hate the constantly advancing rules.

Legal and/or noise restrictions/approvals of the surrounding zoning, etc. are common reasons. This isn't uncommon anymore, and tracks have been shut down for violating specific restrictions not adhered to, after the track was up and operational (Arizona Motorsports Park comes to mind). Putnam even has their own set of weird rules.

Generally if you fail, you're out. My dad failed at Jennings awhile back. To pass, he would roll off the throttle on the straight, but then he got bumped to the intermediate group because his lap times weren't fast enough. :D

Laguna Seca has a 90db limit...so I'd say 103 is generous. Do a quick search and you'll find all sorts of people who were black flagged there even running stock exhaust on turbo charged cars.

If you're concerned, buy a stock exhaust for your bike and bring it just in case! They're cheap parts for basically every bike ever. The K7 1000 will be funky because of the OE dual exhaust, I would probably try to adapt a K6/K9 exhaust or something.

Mine is a full exhaust, so I won't be changing it out at the track....or beforehand..

I do have one of those 'reducers' that slip into the can, but that's about it...I called 2BB about it, they seemed to think it would pass 103db...but they had zero sound data to share, either...

Today but the slope never goes up for control freaks. I should have bit my tongue (typing hand?) as I am pretty extreme on my opinions for freedoms :thumb:

Either way I will now bow out and graze a rice krispies treat while y'all procede.

    But...

    1) Laguna Seca is in Cali (need I say more).
    2) It is part of a park owned by the state of CA
    3) They also have a speed limit for non-race events complete with radar gun and officer behind it to write you a ticket (so I am told).

    OTOH,
I see nothing wrong with noise limits IF the track was built after it was in a populated area like NCM is. I do not agree when people move into the track area fully aware (or should be) and then complain.

I don't disagree with your stance at all for what it's worth - I just try (poorly) not to get myself wound up over battles that have already been lost. Noise restrictions apply to everything and it won't be changing back anytime. In current news, the FAA may be forced to sound proof a whole lot of homes here in the Chicago area after changing the flight paths at O'Hare.

NCM's noice limits have NOT been formally published. This provider in question was not even aware of it until I queried them about it. Could leave some customers angry. If STT is going to use this track next year as mentioned, they will need to know about it and let the membership know also. Nobody likes last minute surprises...
