No we do not. We do have a race license school focused on rules and procedures. Our CRs offer tips but not focused coaching beyond Novice and are mainly focused on safety and lines. We are always looking to improve so if you have anything you think would add value to our program we'd love to hear it! PM me with your contact info if you like. Having said that, we've had our fair share of CCS, WERA and Pro champions and regular podium finishers come out of MCRA. We've been doing this as an all-volunteer not-for-profit since 1974. We also count as 1 of our own Alex Wisdom, 1 of a handful of Americans competing in an international race series. I don't think our advanced group is deficient in any way to any other organizations with whom Ive had the pleasure to share a track.
I personally thought you guys did a fine job. Just a little different focus/philosophy than STT, but everybody rode safe and there were very few crashes. I'd ride with you again!
I was not bashing MCRA at all just to be clear... I thought it was a fantastic run weekend and really enjoyed getting there Sunday and just seeing another org do their Job... I really liked the Airhorns for 1st 2nd and third call... Great Idea for those as deaf as me... Anyhow just by looking at the riding of riders in these vids they all seem planted in the seat with zero movement... We all know what that can lead too... especially on a track with this many turns....I was just concerned about their safetyand if there is a way to get the message across to get their ASSES off the seat it might be a life saver.. You never know.. I was simply wondering about the classroom tactics if there are any...
Yes you are correct and great observation. We did have several riders that looked planted, but I can attest and was witness to one of the Instructors/Coaches pulling in behind one of our group, and having discussions on correct riding position. Can't wait until next year.
It's all good! We have a great time riding with many of you no matter who runs the day. I did not take it as bashing, I just wanted to explain the MCRA program a bit since NCM brought out a bunch of people who are new to our organization. Besides, I'm not 1 to talk about body positioning! I'm old enough to have patterned my style subconsciously after Schwantz, all crossed-up and forward by today's standards. I'm working on getting the head over, weight back, and body lower but sometimes during the heat of a race battle I revert...and lose time! Picture taken last year prior to working on it...(photo not stolen, linked from CCS and paid for original)
I will be there August 8 & 9. I am looking forward to this trip. It was either NOLA or NCM this year, and the dates for NCM worked out better. Maybe NOLA next year
I did NCM last year and chose to do NOLA for this year. Hopefully NCM will have all the issues fixed and open up the sink hole turn! I was really bummed that I couldn't ride that section of the track as I'd been watching cars run that configuration and was really looking forward to doing it on a motorcycle! NOLA April 18-19, this will be my first ride with STT and I am really excited and looking forward to it!
