Does anyone remember the Sinkhole on the straight just over the hump one year? I think it was a Cycle Options day..... In the riders meeting they just said... Stay 5 feet away from the cone.....
Oh that's just great....I forgot about that happening every spring once the ground thaws. What a mess.....
Why don't they allow camping overnight? I have been planning on hitting some Northern tracks in the near future. A track not allowing overnight camping is enough of a reason for me to scratch it off my list. I hate setting up and taking stuff down, im damn sure not going to do it twice. Not to mention I hate staying in hotels during track weekends.
Something to do with concessions they had to make to get the zoning originally. Gates cannot be opened before 7AM and everyone has to be out at either 6 or 7PM. You can leave trailers there but no people.
So you can leave the canopies/pit etc setup, you just cant sleep there? I reckon that wouldn't be so bad.
After reading Perrone's post I'm convinced: that place is cursed. Like from the Bible, Indian Burial Ground, HooDoo VooDoo you-name-it. Place is fuckin cursed.
Dmason, its so close. I think Putnam is a fun track. I go there in between the long trips to tracks. Feels good knowing after a long weekend you can be home under 2 hours.
Does it have to be points to race? Hell, they had the AMA Horizon weekend there and nobody saying they wished they had races there attended... Moto Series races there with tire money available and considering the grid sizes in the region, who cares about points? Unless you are an up and coming racer and running WERA Nationals or AMA, if a track you wish had races, why not race?
And as you know, there were some seriously fast guys there so, the racing was solid and the return was unmeasurable. Plus made some tire money!!
We leave trailers and EZ Ups set up there every year.... They are Ok with that... Chris dont let the camping dealio keep you from this track.... Its one of the best out there IMO... Lots and Lots of fun.... Kinda like a Roebling with some elevation..
You can actually stay later in the day but you have to pay all the workers extra in order to keep the gate open. No one has ever paid that in 5 years You can leave all your stuff set up over night. I have never heard of anything ever being stolen or messed with at Putnam so I feel completely comfortable leaving everything out there over night.
Yeah the line spits you out right at the end of that curb exiting 5. Most people are slow through 6 because they're already thinking about 7 I enjoy walking the track at noon when I can. It's amazing what you see when you have time to look.
It does kinda look like Roebling...and Roebling is one of my favorite tracks. I like high speed, flowing kind of tracks. That layout looks like a ton of fun. I might have to get up there.
Youll fall in love with 3-7 and then really love the exit of 7 as you wheelie down to the entrance of 8 then enjoy another carousel of 9-10 and rip down the straight.
