Putnam was and is my only trackday, but I loved it. It was a smoothe flowing track. This was in 2011 and I am SOOO glad they have relaxed the red flag rules. There was something like 14 reds before lunch. When I was there, turn 2 was getting a little crumbled up, and was flinging small bits of pavement, is that patched? Oh and this was before they built the garages!
I had one of my best races/memories at that place. Still haven't raced a 600 there yet though. There's a race there the weekend May 17th (you're home for that one I believe). I'll go, if you're interested.
^Yes, Motosereis will have a track day on Saturday May 16th and a full race schedule for Sunday. Each class has at least 3 races so you can get some good seat time.
I know I ran both 600s and the 750GT every race weekend. Some guys ran the 1000GT on a 600. I think it is possible to run 5 races with a 600, if you do the endurance at the end of the day.
Hmmm, that would be fun. But that date sounds familiar for some reason. Don't we have something else planned? Or am I confused? Edit, I think that is the weekend of the Speed Academy standalone at Jennings. Or it might be the weekend im racing at Roebling. Either way, you have to come down for both of those.
Wish there were more STT guys going...... I hate the idea of traveling to a new track solo and not having backup if the worst happens and I am unable to drive home.
I forgot to mention the greatest crash I've ever witnessed was at Putnam. Rain was pouring down for a good chunk of the day before and a big puddle had built up in the grass at the end of the front straight. Some guy goes out in A group... He apparently lost the bike at the end of the straight and basically threw his bike into the puddle at 100 mph. I was in the paddock and saw the splash. It might be my memory exaggerating it, but it seemed like it was a good 30 feet high. The rider was completely fine, I believe the bike had a number of problems from being completely submerged though.
Well hopefully it will be sunny and 72 with ZERO % chance of rain Easter Weekend. :thumb: I have one rule that I refuse to break and that's riding in the rain. Wet to drying no problem but I hate getting soaked.....:fear:
Do you have rain tires? If not, they will change your life. I absolutely love riding in the rain. Part of it is because everyone else hates it so I make decent pace around people that usually shoot by me in the dry.
I ran on rain tires during a Super Moto race and burned them up in one heat race! I'll stick to slicks on moderate wet tracks.
Can someone tell me if the pit area is paved or is it gravel? I can't tell by looking at google maps which one it is.
Anyone have any idea how many riders might be there over Easter Weekend? MCRA is the host and Indy Ducati is also involved.
Both days of expert were sold out about a month ago, so I imagine its gonna be fairly busy. Its usually one of the first, if not first events in Midwest, so its always a full house, even if weather is crappy.
