I hope AMP is ready in March. I just ordered the weekend pkg. The course layout looks awesome, I am sure this facility will rival Barber. The southern region is so fortunate to have two great top shelf race facilities. To be able to do Barber and AMP back to back is just fantastic. Two miles of pavement in 2.5 months, sounds doable to me. Look forwrd to the pics.
GOD... I hope it opens on time. I keep looking at the web site... and  . I can't help it. Plus, with several dates available there on mondays... I am psyched!
Although it dosent look like much there has been a whole lot done... Lots and Lots of Dirt moved and drainage put in. The Entrance is steep.. It was very muddy and I didnt want to tresspass... To the left.. And right..
it looks like that now? and you're thinking it's hopeful to be riding on it in 60 days? i hate to break it to ya (cuz i have zero facts to back this up  ) but it ain't happening...at least not that soon.
I will be happy just to see the continued Progress... And if its all haulted Im riding it anyway since its right around the corner from me... Anyone know who makes a 190 Knobby Tire? Seriously... It just needs to be 42 degrees to pave... If we have a good Winter it can happen.. However the Farmers Almanac this year Disqagree's
At the drop zone, the first load in the morning is normally called the "Wind dummy" load; that's when all the guesswork about the correct exit point for that day's winds get's resolved (or at least debate begins)... I think I'll let a weekend or two go by for the 'crash dummie' trackday, to someone else can figure out the 'nasty' spots before I try it
First of all, damn it was cold out there this morning. Second, it was really muddy The only thing paved is the entrance at this point. Sat through a nice little presentation on the facility in the office which currently is just a trailer. When this track is done, it should be a blast to ride!!!! According to them, they were ready to start paving Nov 15 but weather has prevented them from paving. I will attest to the fact that the weather has been pretty lousy here for the last 45 days or so. It has been both wet and cold. According to the "experts" we were supposed to have a dry mild winter. So much for the experts. After the presentation, we went out on the track in 4 wheel drives. As I said, it was really muddy but we got to go see some of the track. Here are the pictures I got, mostly from a hill in the middle of the track that has what should be a great view of the track. Front Straight Back straight Front straight and paddock area Last corner Corner after carousel I hope you all are better at visualization than me cause I can't see it yet, but I have hope! I'll even throw in a "good" weather dance.
^^ those pics are depressing (maybe distressing is better) and exciting at the same time. I hope the winter will lighten up and give them a chance to make some headway soon. Either way, I will be out on that track once it's built. If the 3d renderings are anything close to the final project, it should be a killer facility.
As much as I hate too, because im only 4hrs from Atlanta and am looking forward to it, I have to agree. I was thinking (hoping) the track was much further along than that. After seeing those pics, somebody should consider themselves very lucky if they roll a tire at AMP before August or September. .02
Nope, the schedule will stay the same just without AMP until it's functional. In the past, we've added a weekend here and there, but there won't be a replacement for AMP.
I'll add some pictures from the 8th. They still state end of Feb or beginning of March. BTW: Nice to see you again Ogre. [/img]
Ha-ha. It's Saturday morning!!! You know how bad I feel after Friday nights! Ogre and Bandit it was nice to see you guys out there. I think in March we can bring dirt bikes out there and still have "track day"
